My Opinions ~ Dub vs Subs

$

Hi, and welcome to my entry on a topic that has been covered at least 1000 times in the past, "Dubs or Subs?". Now, I understand a few of my friends reading this will know I do like dubbed anime and subbed anime - I am "on the fence" so to speak. Because of that, I'll try not to be too biased either way in my opinions. --- Now, I first started out watching only dubbed anime since I speak English as my first language so naturally I would want to check out stuff in my own language, and because everything I watch/read/listen to is in English anyway. Because of that, I would never give subbed anime a chance 2 years ago when I first started watching anime... The anime that changed that was actually DanMachi - because I loved the voice actress for Hestia so much, I still love her voice now. Of course, there are lots and lots of subbed anime where the voices are good but this was my first try at subbed anime so my expectations were high. Thankfully, I have been blessed with watching the better-dubbed anime too and I haven't stumbled across an anime where the English voices were crap - as it would probably ruin watching dubbed anime. If that happened to someone when they have first got into anime, I can only feel sorry for them. But know you shouldn't be traumatized to watch another dubbed anime again. ---
--- I like you to read an article here on MAL about this article ---> https://myanimelist.net/featured/1783 before reading on. This will cover what I think if this article. From the start, I can tell this was written by someone who wasn't too keen on dubs in the first place. With lines like "Are they at least worth a try?" says to me the author has no intention of being initially positive with dubbed anime at all. Maybe he could of been more neutral and said "Let's have a look on the reasons as to why this is." as it would have given a better impression? "Late to the party" --- Nope, not anymore. We live in an era where we now have something called "Broadcast Dubs" which dubs anime at the same time as when they are originally broadcast. No longer do you have to wait 2 years for a dub, now you only need to wait an hour. (Think Akiba's Trip or Space Dandy, for example). Basically, what are you proving by saying you can't wait for an anime to be dubbed? You are only proving you have little or no patience. "Lost in Translation" --- I see Higurashi has been used here, Higurashi's dub was poor because of the voice direction on the director's behalf, something the author didn't mention in his article. But..... he did mention about the cuteness in English voices to be not as cute as in Japanese. I can only say that *I* am not interested in cute voices since they annoy the heck out of me but what about voices in other emotions like anger or sadness or more complex emotions like dread or euphoria? They are simply ignored. I can't see anything about "Space Dandy" or "Black Lagoon" anywhere since they are good examples of good emotion in dubbed anime. "Past and Present: Give Dubs a Chance" --- If I had a pound coin for the amount of times I could have said that to a Sub-only Elitist/Weeaboo who is there "on their high horse", I would be rich. Some people are stuck in the past and think dubs are bad because of 90's dubbed anime. Then again, some really do suck bad. But we don't live in the past anymore, we should look forward to the future in dubbed anime. He mentions Baccano and Hellsing as great examples of dubbed anime - Hellsing is much more immersive in dub because - English characters + set in England = would obviously speak English to each other. It would make more sense to me to watch an anime dubbed if it was actually set outside of Japan for once. But what about an anime set in Japan? D-Frag is a brilliant example of a good modern dubbed despite being set in a generic Japanese high school (There was even a joke aimed at Sub-Elitists in the dub which was refreshing). Barakamon is golden in the dub despite it being set on a rural Japanese island of Fukue. I can go on and on about this, so I'll shut up. He did end the article with a nice tribute to Cowboy Bebop - an anime even the creators said is better dubbed - and saying that we choose to be happy the way we watch anime since we all have our own opinions. Thanks for writing this article, mate. :) --- What do I think? Yes, good question dear reader. I think it's pathetic to argue over dubs or subs because it's a waste of our time to convince anyone to do something they are not used to. We are humans, capable of thinking for ourselves and finding our own solutions in life. We shouldn't been told or influences by other to watch anime in a certain way. (At least, I hope not...) When I come across an anime, I would first look if it is dubbed and look at the voice actors. If I know the voice actors then I have an idea what I assume their voice will sound like in character. (Something I can never do with Japanese voice actors, no offence) But watching an episode is naturally the best way to say if you like the dubbed voices. Don't just watch a 30 second clip on Youtube and say "Hurr durr dubs suck!!1!" because you are not even giving the anime a chance.
-- Dubs ~ Black Lagoon is the best example of what a dubbed anime should be like; it's immersive, it's got added flare with the profanity, and everyone speaks English anyway so why not watch it dubbed? Not to mention 8/10 of the characters are non-Japanese so they would speak a language other than Japanese. It makes perfect sense to watch this dubbed. I'm sorry, but I laugh at the subbed version. It's just cringe-worthy to watch, especially in the second season. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was brilliant dubbed but I did have a look at it in Japanese... I can say it's more childish and faster than the dub is, the subbed version is an excuse only for people who are either offended by swear words (I'm sure you've heard much worse language in school) or you don't have headphones and you fear sound leakage. Either way, dubs win in this anime. Subs ~ Higurashi is perfect subbed as all the voices fit the characters and the vocal range alone is enough to say the subs are pretty damn good. Combine this with the creepy atmosphere and you have the perfect mystery anime set in rural Japan. The dubbed version doesn't begin to work, quite frankly. Mion's voice was alright but the rest was sub-par. What it need is a re-dub, fast! Re:Zero is one of the anime I was blown away by the voices with, they don't muck around here, everything is as it should be with a subbed anime - and Re:Zero being a more serious anime too, just listen to Subaru's voice when he is screaming!! It's hard to beat a voice like his. --- Thank you for reading my blog entry. Just assume that when you are talking to me about an anime, that I have watched the dubbed version of it. (Unless there are no dubs available then forget what I just said. :P)

Before the Winter 2017 airing period started, I was super excited about the new animes that would be airing this season! I felt like wanting to keep up with the shows rather than just binging like I usually do. Anyway, I'll be busy this year. Don't think you'll be able to reach me anywhere outside of MAL!

Starting the Winter 2017 Anime Season - "Shouwa S2" and Onihei

So I've started the Winter 2017 anime season. When I first looked over the previews and synopses for the new shows there was only one series that stood out to me as a Must Watch – the second season of “Shouwa Genraku Rakugo Shinjuu”. At that point I was stuck because nothing else looked at all promising. But I felt that I couldn't go into a new anime season with only one new series, so I dug more and eventually decided that I would also try a period piece, “Onihei”. The first episode of “Shouwa Genraku Rakugo Shinjuu S2” met all my expectations. This comic drama about the lives of Rakugo performers in the mid-20th Century started up again being smart, well directed, wonderfully voice acted and blessed with a great BGM. This is a show that I will once again look forward to watching every week. My initial rating is A. “Onihei”, on the other hand, turned out to be a very old-fashioned cops-and-robbers melodrama that was structured and written as if it were being created in the late 1950s or early 1960s. What we have is a story set in the late 1700s that feels like it was put together by the creators of “Have Gun Will Travel”. This story telling style that worked for me when I was a kid so many years ago seems stilted and limited today, so I just don't feel like “going down memory lane” and I won't be watching more of this series. My final rating is C. BTW – I still feel uneasy about only following four anime series this season (“Shouwa”, “Conan”, One Piece” and “Folktales”) so I am going to try out another handful of new series despite their apparent lack of promise. Maybe I'll get lucky, be the proverbial “blind squirrel”, and find a nut.

Jeśli było patrzeć na półce w moim garażu, to przepełnione próbek buty z każdego i każdej firmy obuwniczej oprócz Vibram. Mam zużyte i pracować w wielu różnych buty i nadal testować wiele butów. New Balance, Brooks, Nike, Adidas, Skechers, a inne duże gigantów buty stworzył swoje wersje minimalistyczne jak buty. Widzieliśmy zmiany w buty tworzone z grubymi poduszkami obcasach i sztywnych midsoles do tych z płaskich obcasach, mniejsze poduszki i bardziej elastyczne. Obecnie istnieje wiele nowych firm obuwia dokonać tylko buty, które są minimalne w zakresie projektowania, takie jak Altra, TopoAthletic, Vivobarefoot; Skóra i Inov-8, aby wymienić tylko kilka.
