Just so your know, I watched the original 2001 version of Fruits Basket at least seven times throughout different times in my life, so the original version is still pretty clear in my head, so yeah, that might more or less affect my opinion of the remake. Also please note I never made it past the sixth volume of the manga and may have to reread it, maybe after the Fruits Basket (2019) series ends, whenever that'll be.
Near the end of episode 6, it reshows the cliffhanger moment of the end of episode 5 and how Hatori said one thing but meant something entirely different and it screwed Tohru over and yeah basically that's how thrown under the bus I felt like I was when I was working and had a batshit crazy mentor lol

If I had to give my honest opinion (and hopefully, I'll remember all this when I write a MAL Review for this anime), I really feel like the original anime back in 2001 focused a lot more on the comedy while this one seems like it's much more true to the manga... That's what my friends have been telling me anyway. Shigure seems kind of like a jerk in the 2019 one. He's more like a comedic womanizer in the 2001 version.
Personally, I like the art of both versions. They have their own distinct feel to them. I like that.
I sort of prefer the writing of the original over the new one (uh I'm watching this dub btw.. mostly because I like Laura Bailey's voice ok haha). I guess the original one will always be the one that's so much more familiar to me.
Also they changed Momiji's voice to have a German accent... Personally, I'm not a fan. There's seriously nothing wrong with the German accent; it's just I'm so used to hearing the same Momiji voice in the original, and since 2001 voice actors for the main cast (Tohru, Kyo, Yuki, Shigure, even Hatori) stayed the same, I thought Momiji's voice actor would stay the same as well? I guess not. Oh, and Akito in the original was voiced by the same young boy (or it sounds as such anyway) who voiced Alphonse in the original Fullmetal Alchemist, so it automiatically gave me a reason to sympathize such a, uh, person. But in the 2019 version, Akito is... I think voiced by a girl, and Iiiiii.... just don't like it sorry
The original soundtrack just feels so warm and hopeful and feels like coming home. The 2019 version kind of just leaves something left desired; I can't really explain it. It's like meeting an old friend after never seeing them for over ten years- so much changed and it's unfamiliar, and maybe I'll get used to it and over it in few years time? Who knows.
All these episodes so far have been more or less the same though.

lol does Tohru really call Yuki "Sohma"? She calls him by his last name but calls Kyo "Kyo" just sounds strange in the dub I guess

This actually has nothing to do with my animanga, but I just wanted to put out there I finally found the time to watch The Office! I was super excited to watch season 5, but now I'm at season 6, and I personally don't enjoy it... Turns out, this is a very common opinion, but still, I wanted to mention it.
...Probably it's also the reason I decided to watch anime again idk I try to watch films but then I remember I'm at least a month behind on my letterboxd diary (I have about a handful of movies I haven't put on Letterboxd that I watched over the past two months)
And yeah. Yeah.
Oh, but I was always planning on watching the remake of Fruits Basket regardless so. I just meant all the other anime I'm probably going to watch some time soon.
Oh! And I'm watching a Japanese drama called Mischievious Kiss! The main girl is soo adorable wowow :)

Personally, I'm honestly not that big a fan of this. I don't know why I keep watching this. I guess I liked the premise of the show and the poster on MAL caught my eye and I liked the MAL Rewrite description, but.
Edit: *types all of this while watching this episode lol* After I watch this anime, I'm thinking, maybe I'll watch Nana. Then Paradise Kiss and Kimi ni Todoke... Those three anime are anime I kind of watched back in seventh grade, but I was either too young to understand what was going on or didn't finish it- actually they all fall under both. I'm in a really huge mental craving for shoujo anime. The only shounen I'd be interested in watching would probably be Boku no Hero Academia, maybe SNK and Hunter x Hunter but the last two I feel like I fell way too behind. Might also read more shoujo manga, let's see where my anime life leads me now, now that I'm no longer on hiatus ayy

He can't even figure out that Mei is so uncomfortable all the damn time. I think the first episode or two were good. Mei was really growing as a person and she broke down her walls and realized she can and should rely on others at times. For the rest of the show, however... The rest is, bleeh. Mei, girl, please just go dump his ass, you deserve waaay waaay better, really. You do. You so totally do.

First, this challenge is serious, if you're not up to dedicate your time to whatever you might get; don't play the challenge. This thread is similar to "2019 Anime Watching Challenge" thread, therefore this thread belongs in this forum.
General information :
A wheel-decide that picks a random anime for you out of thousands. Anime before the year 1970 are not included in the list whatsoever. OVAs, ONAs, specials, movies, etc are all included. Once you spin the wheel; you're obliged to watch whatever you get, of course you're allowed to quit; but that would be a real disappointment. Translated or not, matters, you're allowed to respin if the anime isn't translated, but it would be the best if you didn't. The two only exceptions are if it's not available online or isn't translated. If one or both of the two exceptions happened you need to respin from the first wheel, or just call it quits.
Rules :
1. Respins are not allowed, whether you get a bad anime or not. The two exceptions are if the anime isn't available online or if it isn't translated.
2. Once you spin it; you're obliged to watch it, prioritize it as much as you possibly can.
3. Cheating is of course strictly prohibited. This challenge is for fun; please don't enter the challenge for some other motive. Intentionally I'm making it individual-spinning, therefore don't break the trust I put in you.
4. If you fail to finish the respected anime in 365 days you will get automatically disqualified; unless the anime is still ongoing.
5. For proof you need to post in episode discussions of whatever anime you get. Posts must have an adequate time difference. Each episode-discussion post must have at least 25 words, to elaborate on episode's contents. Participants that fail to post in episode discussions of the respected anime will immediately get disqualified from the challenge.
6. Once you decide to take up the challenge and once you spin the wheels, post the following things mentioned below.

If you lose - you must wait at least 15 days before entering again, if you win - you must wait at least 3 days before entering again. Of course, this challenge is only for fun.
