Blogs Remastered First Edition! ==Head== Hair: A+ Eyes: A Face: A ==Body== Build: A- Chest: B+ Clothes: A- ==Mind== Personality: A- Libido: B+ Age: B Total Grade: 90 Comments: Overall Ririchiyo is mostly the same, but I felt it was necessary to redo her. Mainly for her chest score, which is where most of her points are added for her glorious flat chest (though sadly she does get a few moments of envy or terrible adult images). Her libido is also higher as well, now that I've finished her series. In general she's become more perfect for me and deserves a glorious score that a favorite of mine should have. She's amazing and perfect, and if she wore her glasses a little more... er, n-never mind. Though do note that this isn't the blog version, for obvious reasons as her willingless to do naughty things as well as her gamer knowledge would make her even higher. ====== ==Head== Hair: A Eyes: B Face: A ==Body== Build: A- Chest: B- Clothes: A ==Mind== Personality: A Libido: C+ Age: C+ Total Grade: 81 Comments: Another great loli girl. Her chest score is greatly increased, but it's still unfortunate how she wants to be bustier. The initial magical girl sequence in Kira where she is busty and has a close-up is really terrible (and same with the occasional fanart). Still, not much else changed but it would have been nice had Rika shown interest in Keiichi during the shipping episode rather than just having fun as an observer. ==== ==Head== Hair: C+ Eyes: B- Face: A ==Body== Build: B Chest: B+ Clothes: A ==Mind== Personality: B- Libido: C Age: C Total Grade: 69 Comments: Not too much changes, but there are some differences. Her hair is lowered as short and blond isn't as impressive as it once was (though the hairband is cute) but do note that her eyes are pink because I have trouble figuring out colors. One can only hope that the curse will be lifted after this, but I doubt it. As usual her chest increases, though the same scene where Rika is busty (mentioned earlier) also makes Satoko busty though not with as much of a close up. It's a shame that her libido and age are unchanged though. ==== ==Head== Hair: B- Eyes: D Face: D ==Body== Build: D Chest: D Clothes: C ==Mind== Personality: C Libido: C- Age: B Total Grade: 37 Comments: Churuya-san is a meme, and one that hasn't aged well. I have no idea why I would do such a bland, one-note joke of a character for a blog, yet take several years to get to the actual girl she was based on. Her series is dull and forgettable, and while hardcore internet culture will probably remember her there's no way that she'll be remembered for a while. ==== from the Touhou series ==Head== Hair: B- Eyes: B Face: B ==Body== Build: C+ Chest: B Clothes: C ==Mind== Personality: B Libido: C Age: B Total Grade: 63 Comments: A lot has happened since everyone's favorite “strongest” Ice Fairy had her blog. Cirno even got a starring role in her own game, Fairy Wars! Overall she does a lot better than before. Longer hair in her more recent appearance helps, as does her brown skin tan as it shows that not even the sun can defeat her. She's also not as small as I thought she was, though she still doesn't have any body part that has become memorable. Her libido could use help, and same with her wardrobe as she needs more than just her blue dress, but overall she does a lot better these days. ==== ==Head== Hair: B Eyes: A Face: A ==Body== Build: B+ Chest: B Clothes: A+ ==Mind== Personality: A+ Libido: B- Age: B Total Grade: 86 Comments: Another great favorite that needed a re-review, or I suppose in this case a re-re-review. Not much has changed, though it helps that Yuki has a lot more official art which shows off her body (especially her ass, which I had grossly under-reviewed in a lot of early blogs). Other than her body and my opinions on it, not much has changed and there's a reason Yuki still sits on my favorite list. ==== ==Head== Hair: A- Eyes: B- Face: A ==Body== Build: C Chest: D Clothes: A- ==Mind== Personality: C+ Libido: C+ Age: B Total Grade: 65 Comments: On the other hand, Mikuru's blog has certainly shown its age. And I don't even mean because she has an older adult form either (which I somehow forgot to mention in her blog, but I guess I was overly nervous of spoilers). Her body is that of a poorly-added cow as well, having a lot of mamocentric moments even in the Disappearance or Haruhi-chan spin-off series. Seemingly moreso, but that may just be because that the manga of the latter there's a yearly beach episode and Mikuru nauseatingly gets a lot of attention then. Her cute personality doesn't appeal to me as much, and the idea of being a time-traveler isn't that good as her “base” form has no memories. Overall she scores a lot poorer. ==== ==Head== Hair: B+ Eyes: B+ Face: A- ==Body== Build: A Chest: B Clothes: A ==Mind== Personality: A Libido: B- Age: A Total Grade: 87 Comments: Possibly one of my biggest mistakes was the picture in her blog, but Fate deserves much better. One can easily see that her ass is her main appeal, and anyone who thinks otherwise is terrible. Her chest might seem a little high right now, but we shouldn't forget the delightful flatness she once had (plus showing her nipples in the movie, not that it matters). It's a shame that the Nanoha franchise tends to force all adult women to be cows, as even having Fate be the lone flat but incredibly assy girl would have been great for variety! Not that it couldn't use more flat and assy girls, but I'm sure you understand... Oh, and enjoy a far superior image as well! Not as good as she deserves, but I needed a solo, official image of her ass (and she's not the fairy). ==== ==Head== Hair: B- Eyes: C+ Face: B ==Body== Build: B Chest: B- Clothes: B ==Mind== Personality: D Libido: D Age: C Total Grade: 53 Comments: Kirino was done before her second season aired, and as a result she sank low, LOW because of that. Not because of her body or clothes, though the latter did lose a lot over time due me not remembering any really good outfits. Her ass and somewhat-slender chest are still pretty good too. What really hurts is her personality as she seems like a complete brat, even forcing her brother to come over to America to save her. Her eyes are also dull due to being blue-eyed and blonde-haired (well, more orange which overall is probably my least favorite hair color). She's a spoiled sister, and not only did she run imoutos by forcing a lot of sister-focused shows to air around that time but they are likely forever blemished just due to how AWFUL she is. Why can't traps have a representative like this that can make people see how terrible he is? Maybe some day. ==== ==Head== Hair: A+ Eyes: B Face: A ==Body== Build: B+ Chest: B- Clothes: A ==Mind== Personality: A- Libido: B- Age: B- Total Grade: 82 Comments: Although Kuroneko/Ruri also had the second season and OVAs they don't do much to change things. The main change is of course her chest, which goes up, and her ass getting mentioned as she has a few good official images. Her libido probably could have changed, as she ended up dating KyouSUCKY only to have him leave her. Kuroneko sadly shot herself in the foot, but she's too good for the terrible lead. It does help that the game allows her to get with him without Kirino getting in the way, which is a far better solution even if he's terrible. Oh, and her contacts still suck and she would be much better with just red eyes.

This is the Five-hundred-and-thirty-fifth week of using the "Perfect Anime Girl Sheet". Notice: This Blog may contain Unmarked Spoilers. *Topaz is standing in front of a building, with a sash that says “National Annual Pudding Festival.* Well welcome back everyone. We're here at the pudding festival to, well, shouldn't it be obvious? : I don't think that it is that obvious, Empry. That's what you get for not reading last week's blog. We're here because one of Ichika's allies will most certainly show up and-wait, what are you doing here? : That's a fine how-do-you-do. I was getting bored so I wanted to travel with you this week! I see-wait, you're basically me. I know you too well and you wouldn't leave the house without a good reason. : Fine... Ririchiyo wanted me to come because she wanted to spend time playing that game you got her. Something about only having fifteen days to save the world. That's ridiculous. I bought that game for her. It's not like it's rented or anything. : That's what I told her too! But regardless, I'm here to help you out. I'm glad to have an assistant by my side. Especially one that will keep me from temptations! : Oh come on. What kind of temptations could be here? It's that time of year again... : What are you talking about? Meganekko month was a few months ago, so you can't be tempted by that... Nope. Instead it's Lent and thus I can't eat sweets. : And we're at a... pudding festival. That's right. So you can't let me be weak... *Topaz seems hypnotized by a nearby pudding stand. He even drools a little.* That looks so good... : NO! STOP, EMPRY! You've got to have restraint! *Kimiko pulls him away, slapping him though fortunately not dealing damage.* : You're stronger than this, Empry! : Oh my! *Kimiko and Topaz both look towards the meganekko at the stand.* : Are you here to try some of our delicious pudding? Don't worry, as I'll get out two big, jiggly portions! *Mitsuki prepares the pudding while Topaz and Kimiko watch in awe. He soon shakes his head, getting his senses back.* KIMIKO! We can't stay here staring at her like this! We've got to stop this evil threat! : But look at them... Kimiko! Don't do anything we'd regret! *Mitsuki places the puddings on the table in front of her.* : So you do not want my big puddings? They're quite good. See? *She takes a bite of one of the puddings, using a spoon of course. It seems oddly sexual, at least to Topaz and Kimiko as she's not doing anything intentional.* : Oh dear, I seem to have spilled some... : You're right, Empry! This place is dangerous, so let's run off! I'm with you! *Topaz and Kimiko run to another booth.* : I-I sure hope that there's no pudding-peddling meganekkos here. Oh come on. What are the chances of that? : Oh? Do we have guests? *Botan gets up, being very ragged and looking exhausted.* You can keep sitting. We're not here to eat. : Nonsense! Of course you're here to enjoy my big, luscious puddings! It's one of the few foods I can eat even with my weak teeth, so I'm... No, I'm garbage at it. Like I am at everything... *She gets depressed so Kimiko pats the meganekko's back.* : Nonsense! And if it were any other time I'm sure we'd enjoy your puddings. But right now we're looking for someone so we can't be tempted. Kimiko! Look! *Topaz points to a sign that shows that there will be a presentation soon. Kimiko looks and gets so excited she presses too hard on Botan's back.* : MY BACK! : My apologies! I'm sure that your back would be in pain even without me, but I still am very sorry! : I understand... And thank you for complimenting my pudding. Even if you didn't eat any. We would love to, but we have to make it through here in time. I can't get distracted by desserts, especially because I've been good and even posted my apology blogs! : Riri told me about those. Glad to hear she's so happy to get that score. That's right. But there's no time for that! *Kimiko and Topaz make sure Botan is fine, both physically and emotionally, before running off. They spent a tent in the way.* That tent is right in the way, Kimiko! : Looks like it's open, so let's just plow through it! *Inside the tent a certain woman in a pudding costume is unzipping, fanning herself with the pamphlets she was handing out.* : Phew... It's really warm in there. But at least I can be active without causing wild fantasies in all the guys around. *Suddenly Kimiko and Topaz barge in.* Excuse us! : SORRY! : EEEKK! This is the changing room! ...It sure seems like it... Though it seems you're still wearing your track suit. : Of course, as I don't want to wear that naked. That would just be foolish. *Topaz has a big smile on his face. However, Kimiko grabs his hand and pulls him away from the succubus teacher.* : No time to flirt, especially in such an embarrassing manner! True, we have much better things to do! See you later! *Topaz waves as Kimiko pulls him out of the tent. Sakie is dumbfounded.* : Wait... I do remember seeing him before. Oh yeah-OH! *She blushes cutely remembering, though no reason for the blog to discuss that sort of thing. Topaz and Kimiko are close to the presentation hall, catching their breath at a nearby stand.* Pant... What's with all the meganekkos here? It's like... pant... they were planned to be here. : And all of them are busty too! Someone obviously set you up to fail and get distracted. This must be the work of whatever enemy Ichika is following. That's true. This does have a villains handywork. They'd obviously try and distract me with sexy girls offering sweets, and cause me to spiral into further failing! : At least we should be through the worst of it. I mean, how much more can they tempt you with? : Oh dear me. It seems that we have more guests. : OH COME ON! That's what you get for tempting fate. Quick, let's run for it! *Kimiko and Topaz continue to run away. Cattleya sighs.* : What is with Western fans running away from me? Why can't they appreciate me? Zettai: MMPPHH! I'm not sure, but I SURE APPRECIATE THIS! *The camera shows that Cattleya sits back down on Zettai's kneeling body. Her ass is so big that most of his head is hidden.* : And I thank you for this, Zettai. It means so much to me that you volunteered to be my chair today. Zettai: MMPPHH! IT IS MY HONOR! : And on a day that I would feel so flatulent-AH AHHH! Sitting on your face feels so good that I can't-AHH! Here it comes, my little fart cushion! BBBBBFFFFWWWWWAAAAEEEEERRRTTTTTT-PPPHHHHWWEEUUURRRTTT *Cattleya's huge ass lets out an equally massive fart, blasting Zettai in the face. Meanwhile Topaz and Kimiko are backstage at the presentation when they feel the ground shake.* : What was THAT? Nothing that we should mind, but that someone should hopefully enjoy. Anyway, all we have to do is go on stage and investigate... *Luckily the curtain is still down, so Topaz and Kimiko look around the heavy machinery. However, the curtain still rises and the two seem frozen in place. A short girl comes up to the two.* : It would a-appear that you've fallen for my trap! : Oh no! She'll activate her trap card! That sounds like what people use in stupid arguments. But I still understand the reference. What I don't understand is why you decided to go against me? : I want to get revenge on you making fun of my friend Ichika! And the show I'm from! But both are terrible! : Now isn't the time to say that! Even if it is true! : Let me explain. I brought all the girls here after I heard that you defeated Ichika and wanted to tempt you with desserts and other... things. I never planned on having you get this far this quickly, but no matter. : Wait, Empry mentioned this place last week! You couldn't have gotten this festival together in such a short time! *Himari looks to the side.* : W-well... It's because Ichika didn't have much confidence in facing you herself. But now I'm here, and I challenge you in front of this audience! *She points to the crowd, but the audience is mostly empty with just a few seats filled.* : Wow. It looks like the turn out for one of your blogs, Empry! Then they must be very devoted. But no matter, as my fans will surely appreciate my blog on you! : Fair. But while you're doing the blog I challenge Kimiko to make pudding! : B-but that's an obvious loss for me! There's no way that I can make something that complicated! I have confidence in you, Kimiko. : You're just saying that because you don't have to do this! That doesn't take away my confidence! Besides, I'll be distracted because I have to say that... : Do not worry, Topaz. I am able to both listen to you and do my precise calculations at the same time! : Then I'd better do nothing but say random numbers and measurements! Fifteen kilograms of sugar! Four-thirteenths of a cup! Two scoops of raisins! Now now. That's not fair. Plus you'll probably mess yourself up more than you'd hurt her. : That's alright, I don't think that it would be able to get much worse considering my lack of experience... Just try your best! And speaking of girls doing well, how about we begin the blog? ==Head== ===Hair=== Himari's hair, while not perfect, has a lot of great appeal to it and I really like it. She has brown hair, which is a nice color though considering she usually wears yellow clothing this makes her look like the pudding she likes so much. I'm sure that this was intentional though. Her hair isn't as good as Cure Custard, being more orange and that might be one of my least favorite hair colors. As far as hair style Himari's hair is really excellent. She has a pair of braids that hang down, though since they're placed around her shoulders from the front it looks like her hair is wide and wavy. Still, I like braids and they fit her studious nature. They also go about to her elbows, or at least from what I can tell, so the length is quite nice. She does occasionally have her hair down, and it looks nice and wavy with a lot of volume. For a bit of variety she also has circular buns instead of braids while wearing a kimono, in the movie she has a side braid which looks nice too, and she has a collection of hats including the Patisserie hat. Probably the only issue is that her bangs are short, and as she lacks side curls it seems like a lot of her forehead is showing. She also doesn't change too much as an adult either. Cure Custard though, is far worse than Himari's base form. It has a sidetail which I'm not a fan of even if it is wavy and long. It seems to pull a lot of her hair too, making her hair look shorter overall and even Custard's slender sidecurls could help. I do like her squirrel ears, though one is hidden by a pudding somewhat (and it's sad that Cure Custard isn't even the best Cure with pudding in her hair either xD). Overall Himari's hair is really excellent, short bangs aside, but Cure Custard and her orange sidetail, which is a combination of two things I dislike, causes a lot more issues than I would like. Grade: B+ ===Eyes=== Himari has pretty cute eyes. They're brown, which in addition to being a nice color matches her hair color pretty well. Even as Cure Custard her eyes look brown, though maybe with a little bit more red to them. Still, it's a good color for her. Sadly her eyes are tarame, though I do like the little slant inward towards the center of her face. Himari also has a lot of eyelashes, which are noticeable. She also has somewhat thick eyebrows as well, if somewhat short length-wise. She does get the dull/mind control-ly eyes at one point too, even if it isn't as focused on as it was with Ichika. Overall Himari's brown eyes do quite well, and I'm not sure if she wears glasses at any time or not. Grade: B ===Face=== Himari has a very cute face, much better than the bland and goofy Ichika last week. Her head is acorn-shaped, squirrel pun not intended, and looks pretty nice with curved cheeks and a rounded chin. Her nose is a dot as is common in these sorts of shows, and her face is simple and cute. The only issue is what I mentioned in hair-she has short bangs and so a lot of her forehead is exposed. This makes her look like her forehead is bigger than it should be, so something looks a little off. Still, Himari is a very cute girl. And I should mention that Cure Custard has double-cherry earrings, but I'm not interested in that. Grade: A- Let's take some time out to look at the competition! *Himari is doing well with her pudding, stirring it and making sure that the sugar isn't overheating. Kimiko is otherwise looking blankly at it.* Kimiko! You're not even started! : It's not my fault! I've never made pudding before! Just do what Himari is doing! If you copy her it shouldn't be too much worse. : Great plan! *Kimiko then starts to cook the sugar, though it burns almost immediately.* : I don't think that this is working... You're not doing it right. : Then tell me! I can't do that! I-it would be against the rules... : You're just saying that because YOU don't know either! *Topaz looks to the side and Kimiko sighs. She then dumps the sugar into the garbage and puts more in the pan. This too burns immediately.* : Curses! I did it again! *It is at this point that Himari is starting to be concerned. She looks at how poorly Kimiko is cooking, wasting more and more sugar.* : Man, what's the secret to this thing?! *After a few more failed attempts Himari can't control her emotions any longer.* : That's the fifth one now! : That's because you're overheating it and not cooling it properly! You see, if you heat it up too quickly the crystals will burn and- *Himari continues to talk about pudding, explaining what Kimiko was doing wrong while not being annoying either. The hat-wearing girl listens and nods, even blushing a little when Himari presses against her body to help her cook.* : See? It's not as difficult as you were making it out to be. : T-that's right... I shouldn't be this bad at cooking, but pudding is hard to make. : True, but sweets are science! And that's why I... made... it... my battle.... *Himari blushes and goes back to her work, which fortunately didn't get disturbed much by helping Kimiko out.* It looks like Himari finally realized that she's competing against Kimiko. But don't worry, as that shows how much of a sportsman you are! : T-thank you! You're welcome, and since you're doing so well how about we go back to the blog? : That sounds more like a punishment than a reward... Hey... *Topaz glances at Kimiko, but she and Himari continue with their battle. Seeing this he continues with the blog.* ==Body== ===Build=== Himari has a fairly standard Cure body, meaning that there's not too much to talk about here. Well, she is probably the shortest of the main girls but there are no actual measurements to back it up. She does have a slender preteen body, fitting most shows for young girls. Sadly while there are no issues there's also no noteworthy scenes. I will say that Cure Custard has a squirrel tail, which is cute. But she still does pretty well here. Grade: B- ===Chest=== Likewise Himari really doesn't have any issues here. It's hard to judge girls from these shows as there's not much to talk about in this area. Just know that Himari is pretty much flat and that fits her body shape and age, and that there's nothing wrong with that either. Grade: B ===Clothes=== Himari has a lot of cute outfits, though there is a big flaw. She has a tendency to dress in a conservative manner, with baggy clothes that make it hard to see her body. For example, her main outfit is a yellow dress with cherries around the white collar, with a light green skirt on bottom. She also wears brown boots with it. She also has the Patisserie waitress/chef outfit which isn't bad but a little bland, and her pink-collared sailor uniform with yellow neck tie and pink skirt isn't too interesting either. Himari wears a one piece swimsuit in the beach episode, at least when she isn't wearing a jacket because the show was overly safe. Her reporter outfit is cute, with a strawberry-themed sash and cute hat, and possibly pantyhose as she definitely needs something like that or thighhighs in her everyday wear. Himari also wears yellow-striped pajamas and a penguin outfit in the movie. Cure Custard is kinda interesting, with the pudding-like skirt and frilly outfit in general. She also has a choker with cherries on it, long gloves that go to her wrists, and yellow socks that go about to her knee or so with some white decorations at the top. She also wears heels, though the platform isn't too big, and there are squirrel-like toes at the tip of her shoes. In La Mode Style her skirt becomes much longer and even more pudding-like, and she gets a fluffy hat as well that wraps around most of her head. In the future she wears a lab coat Overall Himari could be better, wearing fancier outfits but I suppose that her plain appearance makes sense considering her reserved personality. Grade: B- ==Mind== ===Personality=== Himari is a very cute girl, the type of shy girl I like quite a bit. She's awkward and really enjoys researching sweets and their affects on the body. She gets easily excited and likes telling people about her hobbies, even if they aren't exactly willing to listen. Because of this she tries not to get close to people and has problems acting in public. She does get that straightened out, thanks to a lot of episodes with basically the same moral type of thing. But that shows how terrible KiraKira is, as they like recycling plots and Himari's “opening up” plots tend to take up most of the episodes centered on her. She does act on TV which is cool though. I like how she has her notebook with her life's work, even if sadly the villains destroy them (which sends her spiraling for a short time). Himari is very hard working and comforting, with a cute soft voice that fits her well. She was voiced by Haruka Fukuhara, who wasn't really a VA and even now she doesn't seem to have many roles. Her catchphrases seem to be "Sweets Are Science!" and "Let Me Explain!", at least as far as the translations say. Overall I do like Himari, as she's a cute shy girl who likes talking about her hobby. Sadly she's in a terrible series so she gets pushed to the side far too quickly. Grade: B ===Libido=== There sadly isn't a lot to talk about here, at least as far as I remember. She does idolize Yuu Tachibana, who is a famous scientist in the series and treats him as a mentor. He is an old man though, and it's more that she likes being his assistant. She also has a little yuri with the other girls, with the main standout being the Halloween calendar art where a vampire Akira (another one of the girls) is teasing Himari. Their pairing isn't as strong as Akira and Yukari though, and I'm not sure how strong Himari's pairings are in general. Or perhaps I'm just forgetting something major, as that can happen. Outside the series Himari and Aoi, the resident blue Cure, share a song together which is cute. Grade: C+ ===Age=== Himari is 14, remaining that age through the series. Except for the ending, which was terrible. As mentioned last week they aged up the girls to adults to show the future, which is something that Cure has been doing for some time and is absolutely terrible. In all fairness Himari does a lot better there though, as she doesn't seem to change all that much but still. Oh, and we also get some moments of her even younger, and Himari is quite cute. Grade: B- Total Grades: 70 Average score: 7.8 Final Grade: B- And that's the blog for the week. What did you think of it, Himari? : It was good, but- GOOD! I say you did really well! Though your libido could have used some work... : Now isn't the time! We only have one more minute, and my pudding is cooking! *Himari and Kimiko are working hard on their puddings, with Himari putting the finishing touches on hers.* : But it's been there for a few minutes! There's no way that I can catch up! : That is alright. Sweets are a science, and you took a little too long to start out. Do not worry, as this happens sometimes. I'm sure that, with my help, next time will go better. Let me explain- : THERE'S NO TIME! TURN UP THE HEAT! : WHAT! : Obviously if I make it warmer it won't take as long! I'm getting a bad feeling about this- : STOP! *Kimiko doesn't listen to Himari and turns the stove up to maximum power. The world seems to go in slow motion as the stove starts to swell, and the two girls slowly back away. It looks as if they aren't able to get away, but Topaz heroically rams into the girls and pushes them away. They fall off the stage just as it explodes in a raging inferno, Topaz still on there. The crowd runs away, with them passing a short blonde-haired girl who is just now entering.* : OH NO! Topaz! : I may have wanted him to stop blogging, but not like this! Especially after the nice score he gave me... And that he was beginning to forgive girls too... : I can't believe that you would kill him like that... : ME? You're the one who turned the stove up too high! And now we have no proof as to who won, not that it matters. *The two look at the raging flames, and see a body get up.* : T-Topaz? (Yes! It's me!) *Topaz thinks that, but somehow he's unable to communicate. His jaw seems to be fused shut, and his right arm feels heavy and stiff. It's gripping something in his hand, yet he can't let go. He tries to move forward but is unable. However, the flames die down, and Kimiko and Himari are surprised to see what has happened.* : T-TOPAZ! WHAT HAPPENED?! : He became a monster! Sadly there's no name for them in my series, as they were either fairies, a doll, or weapons... : Your show sounds awful. No offense... : ...None taken, considering that they reused my plots so much. But there's no time for that. We've got to save Topaz! *Indeed as Topaz's lower jaw looks as if it had been replaced with a flaming jawbone bigger than the rest of his skull. Meanwhile his right arm is flaming, and in his hand was a powerful hammer.* (H-help me!) (???: The evil presence proved too much for you. You may have delayed me for a month longer than necessary, but even you cannot keep away the inevitable march of DEATH!) *In his mind Topaz looks behind him, and is surprised at what he sees. A bloody red skull smiles fiendishly at him, with a skeletal body.* (W-what?! What's going on?!) (: Are you horrified to see your new master? Your reactions are expected. Now, I shall be taking over your body.) (N-NO! NO WAY!) (: Avoid me all you can, but you are not stronger than I am...) *The creature's skeletal arms wrap around Topaz's body, its fingers holding his chin. He is forced to watch as his body aggressively attacks Himari and Topaz.* : T-TOPAZ! What are you doing?! Is this what happens when your blood sugar gets low? : His body is being controlled by that beast! I've got to do something!
: Prepare yourself, as I am Cure Custard-w-wait, why is my picture the same? : I guess that MAL doesn't appreciate magical bakers, and only legendary warriors get pictures. : How RUDE! I'll show you how strong I am... CUSTARD ILLUSION! *Cure Custard throws custard at the creature taking Topaz over. The custard seems to melt on impact. A young blond girl watches the battle from the rafters, sitting with her feet against her hands.* : Gee, I wonder why that didn't work... Though hopefully this form made it so that he didn't take damage from the flames. : P-please don't be so sarcastic! Besides, it's not like you could do better... : That sounds like a challenge... *Kimiko transforms.* : And one that I will be sure to conquer! HYAAAHHH! *Kimiko charges at Topaz, while he's fighting a battle with the creature inside.* (N-no! Stay away! I don't want to hurt you!) (: How kind. But I am the one controlling your body. Obey your master, and harm all those around you!) (NOOOO!) *Topaz tries to fight as hard as he could, but the presence is too much for him. He swings his hammer at Himari and Kimiko, but fortunately the transformed duo manage to avoid it.* : I-It looks like we won't be enough as we are. What can we do? : If only you could stall him and I had a move that took five minutes to charge up... : Wait, do you have one?! : I said IF I had one. If only a miracle would fall from the sky... (: Foolish heroes! There is no way that you will ever defeat me, the Ruby Wraith!) *Topaz slowly corners Himari and Kimiko, raising his arm to strike.* (NOOOO!) : PUDDING KICK! *The girl from the rafters leaps down with a kick, knocking Topaz aside. His large hammer drags against the ground, allowing him to stay stable.* : W-WHO ARE YOU? : I'm Pudding! : W-what?! Th-that's not a name... : So says Cure Custard. But that's not important. We've got to save Topaz! : I can sense that his heart is still pure inside! We need to get the beast possessing him out! : But how do we do that? : Teamwork. You ready... er, Cure Pudding? : It's Cure CUSTARD! But yes. CUSTARD ILLUSION! : RIBBON PUDDING RING INFERNO! *The two girls use their dessert-based attacks to knock the creature out of Topaz. He is also covered in pudding from the attacks, but the skeletal figure is out of him. He also goes back to normal.* I'm free! But why am I covered in pudding? : It's not important! : What is that thing too?! : So you have broken me free from his body. SO? I shall just possess him once again! : NOT TODAY! *The camera shoots up to the sky, where Topaz is floating in midair. She then calls down a pair of gigantic glasses, crushing the skeletal figure.* : NOOOO! NOW ALL MY UNDEAD FRIENDS WILL SURELY MAKE FUN OF MEEEeeeee...... *The figure then disappears into nothingness, and the girls return to their normal forms. Even if MAL is dumb so Himari doesn't change.* : Phew... It looks like we got through this. I'm especially glad! I thought I was a goner, and that I would destroy you two! : You have too much confidence in yourself. But still, thank you for freeing me. W-wait, when did Purin get here? : I got here midway through the battle, as these two were suffering so much! Himari I could see, but aren't you better at this Kimiko? : I wasn't able to use the full extent of my powers as there were no traitors around. But still, it's good to see that you're alive. : I agree. What could have happened to cause this? Hmmmm.... *Topaz remembers back, over a year ago...* Hey look! I got a Ruby! : Fine then. Just don't come crying back to me when you've done 61 actions and die as a result. *He shakes his head, returning to the present.* Nothing that I can think of. But still, Kimiko, Himari, and Purin. Thank you for your help. : *bows* Thank you for doing such a lovely blog on me as well. It is a shame that I come from such a terrible series. Indeed, though you did help out with your cuteness. : GASP! What's a blog? Is it tasty? : No no. All he does is talk about you. : Oh! I think that Lettuce and Ichigo got one of those! : No, her name is “Ichika”... She means someone else. And while I would love to talk about you I have other plans for this month. : Don't say that you'll be doing the rest of a terrible show! I don't know what you mean, but next week is indeed White Day! I hope that Ririchiyo enjoys the chocolate I make for her... : You can be such a DOG sometimes! Well, I am a little foxy... But that's not the point! Be sure to join us next time! *Topaz and Kimiko leave together.* : W-wait! I don't want to clean this mess all by myself! *Purin whistles and tries to sneak away.* : Wait, you can help me! Come on, please! : Fine.... *With her acrobatic help Himari is able to clean up quickly. The meganekkos also aid her, and Himari apologizes for tricking them into the festival.*

Make Anime Great Again

Yes, I’m referring to that slogan of a particular American presidential candidate now Oval Office presider. The thing is, anime was always great. There’s no need to improve it… or is there? Too often nowadays the seasonal charts are swamped by titles that only reinforce the too-common stereotypes about anime: childish, strangely designed (big eyes, unnaturally long hair, frequent shots and angles of panties), overly and overtly sexual, weird. I’m talking about shows like Umaru-chan, Eromanga-sensei, and Boku no Pico. And yes, I haven’t seen any of those and you can’t really tell an anime by its cover image**, but scroll down a seasonal anime page and you’ll know what I mean. Before I got into anime with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I too had the misconception that anime was just girly Chinese cartoons for otaku weeaboos who spent their waking moments clutching body pillows and staring at 2D characters with lustful intent. I was proved wrong, but that doesn’t nullify the fact that such otaku weeaboos do indeed exist. And they exist for a reason. Anime is just that awesome and addicting. According to Gigguk’s video “Life Cycle of an Anime Fan” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VCkq0e2920), anime viewers begin their weeblives in a period called “The Awakening” in which after encountering a show particularly good they think everything else they watch is good. Later on during “The Void”, they watch a show so good that everything else they watch is inferior, and so they continue watching to fill the sensation of emptiness. My first anime was so good and so unique compared to books or live-action movies that I just had to watch more anime. Since then I’ve matured and don’t think everything I watch is a 10 out of 10. But that ineffable feeling of awe and delight and pure joy while immersed in a story has come to me rarely since, only in the forms of One Piece (the anime) and Game of Thrones. So even if I’m watching anime that is genuinely good and well made, it doesn’t give me that incredible feeling and make me spend my waking thoughts devoted to that world and those characters and what’s going to happen next. It’s a void to fill, a barrel with a hole at the bottom, an unreachable paradise that I search and yearn for in the media I consume. Well. I’m writing this blog entry/rant/reaction/review because I’ve found it. I’ve discovered it yet again. I’ve found an anime that revitalized my passion for the medium. I’ve found a world unshakably irresistible in its beauty. I’ve found a precious gem of humanity, a work that I’m proud of humans for crafting. It is Made in Abyss. I adore this anime. Everything, literally everything, about it is good. The premise is simple yet all the more revelatory for what is to come. The characters are solid, one in particular who has joined my favorites. The visuals are breathtaking and reminiscent of Studio Ghibli. The soundtrack is high Australia. The writing fits the child-meets-darkness archetype superbly. The OP and ED are superb, more so after you’ve seen the whole thing. The voice acting is extremely realistic and brings out the youth of the main characters well. And the storytelling itself… Subarashii. I was enticed by the stark contrast between the idyllic thrill of adventure and the indifferent, unforgiving nature of the Abyss. To fully pay respect to Kinema Citrus and Tsukushi Akihito, I will include spoilers in the following section, which is intended for those who have already seen all 13 episodes of Made in Abyss (MiA). Note: Everything I say here is based on what I have seen and deduced from the anime only. No manga spoilers, and I recommend NOT reading ahead in the manga for maximum enjoyment of the second season and beyond in the anime.
PEDOPHILIA?!?! No, there is no pedophilia whatsoever. If MiA has a flaw, it is the fairly frequent sexual innuendo on Reg’s part. Riko is unfazed by being naked in front of Reg since he’s a robot in her eyes, albeit very human-like. Yes, Riko and Reg could have been designed as teenagers. But that would heavily change the exposition of MiA, such as Riko’s being at Belchero Orphanage and her being a novice Red Whistle, not to mention the whole point of having children explore the Abyss. Their reactions to its horrors accentuate the grim realism and enable audiences to reimagine that childlike sense of wonder at a new world that we’ve seen in Spirited Away (via Chihiro) and The Lord of the Rings (the hobbits). (Yes, the hobbits aren’t children, but their inexperience with the world, stature, and relative youth compared to the other characters achieve the same effect.) MiA would be a whole lot different if Riko, Reg, and Nanachi were several years older. As for Reg’s frequent blushing, well, he did lose his memories so his mind was basically reset, so even at his young age seeing a twelve-year-old naked would be discomfiting. Heck, when I was twelve my peers were already dating. So I guess Riko just looks a lot younger than twelve. -OTHER COUNTERARGUMENTS- Another common cause for criticism is MiA’s failure to really accomplish anything significant with its 13 episodes. Well, let me tell you critics: urusai. Do you really expect a story this deep (pun intended) to be substantively conclusive and complete in 13 episodes? Or any story’s first one-cour season to be complete? When you criticize first seasons for this, you’re presupposing that first seasons are narratively equivalent to multi-season shows, just because they’re separate “seasons”. Look at One Punch Man. At the time of writing, the ongoing manga has 104 chapters and looks to have a lot more, so obviously the first season can’t accomplish anything grand in 12 episodes. If you treat first seasons as merely being arbitrarily segmented first portions of a larger narrative, then they don’t have to accomplish anything great and wonderful. That is, if they are adaptations of existing material. If a show is original, then yes, seasons matter more. One might respond by pointing out that the studio chose a certain portion to adapt, i.e. they can choose to end the season at a point in the story that is conclusive (e.g. the end of an arc). But one should also consider the inherent limitations to anime adaptations, industry problems, and so on and ultimately if you don’t know exactly what went behind the scenes in the making, cease your complaints. 13 episodes > 0, unless you want them to wait until the entire manga is complete before adapting. Expect to wait a long time. Madhouse chose an excellent place to adapt Hunter x Hunter, the conclusion of the Chimera Ant arc -- the next arc is massive and still going. The same with Bleach (Thousand Year Blood War arc), although the manga is finished but Studio Pierrot is busy with the son of the Seventh Hokage and the one with the black clover so I wouldn’t be too hopeful, unless a different studio takes the job of course.
Besides, they also ended season 1 differently than the manga did so that it would be somewhat conclusive, with a singing hope for more adventure. Remember the ending montage of the balloon ascending the layers? That was anime-only, and a good decision on the studio’s part. A sense of moving on, having finished a stage in the journey, ready to enter the 5th layer and face off against Bondrewd. OUTPOURINGS OF MY LOVE 1.
2. The backgrounds of the Abyss make for excellent wallpapers. Compare this to Barakamon. Damn. 3. I’ve been listening to the OST beaucoup. Hands down my favorite and best anime soundtrack of all time, if only for being so perfectly apt for what’s going on. The insert songs? Beautiful. Thank you, Kinema Citrus, for bringing in an Australian dude to do the score. 4. Reg can be found in the Abyss. He evolves into Iron Man at level 20, and finally Genos at level 32. 5.
6. The OP character song is great, just great. I watch it through each time, I don’t skip it, it’s amazing. Makes you realize if you didn’t know already that Reg is voiced by a woman. WHO ALSO VOICED KILLUA GOD I LOVE HIM 7. The Relics. From Fourth Grade to Aubades, there’s so much creativity here. A bell that stops time, a vessel that repels the curse (temporarily), an intangible cloth, who knows what (or who) else they’ll find down there. 8. I love how the characters can walk on the many pathways (e.g. the Seeker Camp) without batting an eye. You can literally just fall off and… well, die. Anyone remember that one inbyo that fell into the fog when chasing after Riko and Reg? 9.
DEEPER MEANINGS In my opinion, MiA is a microcosm for anime as a whole. It may look childish and simplistic on the surface, but it’s much darker, deeper, and more mature on the inside. The title, “Made in Abyss”, harks to the three protagonists we’ve seen so far: Riko, who was born and resurrected in the 4th layer; Reg, who came up from the 6th layer or below; and
I won’t be surprised if any new protagonists encountered later are also made in Abyss. While Riko’s naiveté may be a bit annoying (given how she gives off this vibe that she will reach the bottom), it is part of the idea that the longing for the unknown, which is just that great. It explains why so many cave raiders descend into that darkness, why an entire city flourishes around it, why Lyza decided to stay behind -- and keep going further down. If you look on the bright side (Riko), armor up and fight (Reg), and maintain your humanity (Nanachi), you'll do OK and be able to explore the world around you and have a great adventure. FUTURE PROSPECTS Each member of the trio has something to contribute to the team. Riko’s the cook, Reg’s the fighter, and
I’m getting the same vibes as when Luffy was growing his crew. I sincerely hope that none of the trio dies in the future, and they probably won’t, but given what’s happened so far it’s possible. Please, I don’t want to cry that much again. Rest in peace, Mitty. As for Lyza, I’m getting the same vibes as for Gon’s dad in Hunter x Hunter (whom I won’t name for spoilers). Both parents are incredibly strong in their respective fields, and both have a confident, easygoing personality. I’m looking forward to when/if Riko is reunited with her mother, and whoever wrote the message, and who or what else is at the bottom of the Abyss. My heart was gladdened when I found out that season two was in production. I can’t wait, and I cherish MiA as an anime so much that I won’t read ahead in the manga, just as I won’t for Shingeki no Kyojin and One Piece. RIP. I’ve read ahead in both of those LOL. Happy ending. Season 1 ended on a hopeful note, I hope that season 2 (and the entire story) does as well. Will Riko reunite with her mother? Will they reach the bottom? Will they return to the top without being transformed? Will the true purpose of the Abyss be revealed? Will Reg’s creators be shown? Just as cave raiders succumb to the joy of discovering the unknown, I can’t wait for what remains unknown to us about the Abyss. ~FINAL THOUGHTS~ Made in Abyss upon completion immediately became one of my favorites. Not just anime, but for all media. I won’t stand for criticism of it. Simply irredeemable. It’s rare to find fantasy anime that really pulls its chops with the worldbuilding, reifying the otherworldly experience and strengthening the escapism. Made in Abyss rekindled my love for the medium. If only every show could be made with this level of attention and detail… It’s shows like these that I seek. It’s shows like these that make me glad I’m alive. So does Japan need to make anime great again? No. Just greater, on the level of Made in Abyss. ”A longing for the unknown, you see, is something not a single soul is capable of stopping.”
*See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGEfP8hGvcM for more detail on why Made in Abyss could have been a video game. (Not that I personally feel that it should have been; I stand by animation as the most fitting medium for the story wholeheartedly.) **Just one image isn’t enough. Watch the PV for an anime and one can grasp some sense of what the anime is like.

Taboo and Sexual Liberation in Mizuryu Kei

(I originally made this as a shitpost. Y'know, one of those things that make you think "This can't be legit" followed by "This may legit." Enjoy.) This paper aims to showcase hentai mangaka Mizuryu Kei's critical stance on the taboo of sexuality in modern society through an in-depth analysis of his works, with special attention to his three biggest intellectual properties: MC High, The Daily Life of the Souma Family, and Oideyo! Mizuryu Kei Land. Mizuryu Kei (敬水龍) is a Japanese hentai mangaka of unknown birth date or hometown. He is the sole member of the doujin circle Alice no Takarabako (Alice's Treasure Chest). His earliest recorded work is a nameless short story in the November 2006 issue of Comic Hime (pp. 455-470). Throughout his doujin carreer he has made parodies of various popular anime, manga, and videogame series including The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Please Tell Me! Galko-chan, K-On!, Final Fantasy VII and The Idolm@ster amongs others as well as of literary classics like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. His artstlyle has become one of the most easily recognizable amongst hentai, only rivaled by the likes of ShindoL and butcha-u. Common features include soft shading, thick eyelashes, a "happy" style of ahegao (crazed face), accentuated vulvas, and a prevalent use of pasties and opera gloves. Despite this reputation, only two of his creations have received animated adaptations: Juvenile Pornography The Animation and Oide yo Mizuryu Kei Land. He was also the character designer and cover illustrator of Nagisa Toono's series of erotic novels, Oide yo! Shiritsu Yarimakuri Gakuen. However, Kei's characteristic style is absent from the actual animation due to studio PoRO's design choices. Mizuryu Kei is active on Twitter, pixiv and his personal webpage, mizuryu.jp. He has done multiple collaborations with other notable names in the industry. His manga has spawned merchandise like figurines, body pillows and mock tickets and "consent stickers" for Mizuryu Kei Land. An important thing of note is the constant presence of "happy sex" in his stories. Unlike many of his contemporaries, rape is notably absent in most of his stories, and even when it does appear, it quickly converts into consensual. Also worthy of note is the occasional presence of homoerotic scenes that lack any sort of "loopholes" like cross-dressing. Throughout Mizuryu Kei's career, it has become increasingly evident that he has a particular outlook on modern society. Specifically, he seems to criticize the way sexuality has been made taboo. He seems especially frustrated in the way women are suppressed by these views, which is why many of his stories contain women in a state of sexual freedom. Due to this and due to the yaoi content he puts out from time to time, some have speculated that Mizuryu might be actually a woman, but due to his public appearances in doujin events, this rumor has since been disproven. Mizuryu's stance on sexuality can be perceived through three main means: idealization, subtext, and direct exposition. Each of the three works treated in this paper specialize in one aspect of Mizuryu's criticisms. First, I will be looking at the way Oideyo! Mizuryu Kei Land idealizes sex and how it represents the author's idea of a utopia. At the beginning of the story, the self-inserted author finds an oilfield. He uses the money to build an amusement park centered on sex. Despite the first impression this synopsis might give us, the author is quick to clarify that the world he is creating is still held together by law and morality. Since most people skip this prologue, many ignore the fact that Mizuryu acknowledges the risks that would inevitably be brought up in the reader's mind. According to in-universe lore, an STD inspection certificate is required to enter. Adding to that, the park's entrances are equipped with state of the art facilities able to perform such inspection in "a mere minute" as well as specialized washing facilities. This prologue also informs us of how the risk of pregnancy is controlled: all men are required to wear a specialized condom that filters sperm out of the expelled semen. This license allows Mizuryu to keep internal ejaculation (colloquially, creampies) in his sex scenes, thus keeping all pornographic integrity in without sacrificing immersion. To quote the final paragraph "Sex taking place in Mizuryu Kei Land is guaranteed to be safer than anywhere else in the world". Furthermore, this prologue assures us that, despite any preconceived notions a reader might have about the author's sense of morals, age of consent laws are important and unbreakable in the world Mizuryu Kei has created. Alongside the STD inspection certificate, guests are required present identification that proves they are "over the national age of consent of 13 years." Furthermore, the park provides daycare for children under thirteen in which they are taught sexual education. While readers may initially be skeptical about this, a latter panel in the series does show a room in which professionally dressed teachers are giving basic explanations to children through the use of appropriate, non-pornographic diagrams and comparisons to a plant's reproductive system. This sexual education turns out to be genuine, much to the surprise of most readers, who expected a less amicable approach to the matter. This is an extremely important detail; Mizuryu Kei's approach to the taboo of sexuality is to "untaboofy" it. The author creates a world in which everyone can come to understand sex without feeling guilty about it, but refrains from forcing it onto anyone. Mizuryu Kei Land serves as the starting point and common axis for many different stories involving different characters in various theme park-related situations. Through this line of thinking it is possible to consider the park itself as the main character of the story, while the men and women involved in the sexual act are side characters to the larger scheme of things. It is perhaps due to this disjointed form of storytelling that the series has done crossovers with other characters like the main cast from Oshiete! Galko-chan, u/HattyMikune from r/MegaTen, and Mizuryu's own Souma Family. The amusement park is bursting with phallic imagery. Any and all events that take place there are given an erotic twist. For example, an idol group whose members dance around poles with microphones that also work as dildos. Instead of handshaking events, common in the Japanese idol culture, fans engage in "minute fuck" events, in which they have sex with the band's members for sixty seconds. This is just one amongst a myriad of details that bring Mizuryu Kei Land to life as a cohesive world. Despite how over the top the story might be, the author assures us that respect and understanding are vital parts of his utopia: customers are given special consent stickers to put on their bodies that signify how far they are willing to go with others. Mizuryu Kei Land represents the author's idealized view of how sexuality should be tackled. However, its strength lies within its premise and world building. It lacks characters to analyze and thus, it lacks a more personal approach to the subject matter. Here's when The Daily Life of the Souma Family comes in. While the stories that take place in the amusement park feature a variety of characters, the second series I'm going to examine delves deeper into its characters. The Daily Life of Souma Family is Mizuryu Kei's second largest propriety and has received a visual novel alongside various manga chapters. The titular family is composed of five members: Mother and housewife Mitsuko, office worker Souko, college student Sayoko, high school student Kurumi and their unnamed father/husband. The story revolves around the four nymphomaniac women of the family and their various misadventures. The first thing of note is that, with a consistent cast, it is much easier to dig into subtle hints of dialogue. There are variations to their behaviors and outlooks on sex. Mitsuko's backstory is quite simple. The earliest chapter of her life presented to the readers is six months after her wedding. Our main character becomes sexually frustrated after her husband neglects her. She has a lot of trouble handling this because; "I had too much sex in college." She comes across her old college boyfriend and, long story short, she develops a cheating addiction. There are many different aspects of Mitsuko's character that ought to be brought to light. First is her relationship with her husband. During this initial cheating she refers to him as "the hindrance" when calling over other men to her home. However, later in the manga, while she is having sex with another unknown man, she tells a picture of her husband that she still loves him wholeheartedly. While this initially might seem like a contradiction, it is more of an evolution of her character as someone who has come to terms with her condition as a nymphomaniac while still harboring a deeper love within her. While a reader might expect her to be a neglectful mother, the opposite happens: Mitsuko is still in good terms with her daughters (neither of them are from her husband), and conflicts don't go any deeper than a mother dealing with her teenager daughter's rebellious phase. This takes us to the most interesting character of the Souma family: Kurumi Souma. The youngest daughter of the Souma family is conflicted about sex and about the way her family behaves. She is the only member of the family who is uncomfortable around the overabundance of sex in the household. Yet, she seems to follow her mother's steps simultaneously willingly and against her will. She gets into constant arguments with Mitsuko. However many times she seems to be as, if not more, addicted to sex as her mother and sisters. For example, at one point she makes a bet with her mother: they compete to see who gets to have sex at the beach with a man first. Should Kurumi win, Mitsuko would have to stop bringing men to her home altogether. Any reader can immediately see the contradictory, almost comical, nature of this bet. While the explanation for Mitsuko's habits was, as previously mentioned, overindulgence, the three daughters seem to have followed her steps due to overexposure. During a flashback in Teisou Kannen ZERO (pp. 117-118) we're shown a night in which the three sisters peeped in on her mother having sex with another unknown man. Kurumi reminisces with the following inner dialogue: "Thinking about it now, this moment was when we [the three sisters] awoke to our sexual desires." While the inclusion of her sisters is most likely Kurumi projecting, it is clear that a child's inherent nature of wanting to imitate grownups was what pushed the girls into becoming as perverted as their mother. An extremely important detail is that, while peeping, Kurumi says the following: "Mom... She looks so beautiful..." It would be false to claim this implies an incestuous subtext; Kurumi is expressing admiration and awe at her first exposure to sex. She finds the entire concept alluring from an early age. Also worthy of note is that, while she is dumbstruck about the whole thing, her sisters giggle throughout the whole ordeal, being more curious about sex. In the present day Kurumi behaves in a manner similar to the "tsundere" trope, but rather than at a boy she likes, she is tsundere at the idea of sex itself. The most common flow of her stories is that she'll be uncomfortable around her family bringing men over but eventually give in to her carnal desires with facial expressions and a slurred speech that surpasses those of her mother and sisters (one of which has the recurring gimmick of drunk sex). Another point for Mitsuko as a mother is that the men she brings over, while insistent, never force themselves onto Kurumi and only have sex with her when she chooses to do so, yet again proof of Mizuryu lauding the values of respect and consent. Going back to the flashback, that was the first time all three sisters saw their mother in such state, meaning she had done a good job of not showing off until then. That plus the chapter in which she hires a tutor for Kurumi due to concerns for her grades (regardless of the fact that the constant sex was the reason her grades were falling behind to begin with), shows that, despite everything, Mitsuko is at the end of the day a caring mother, even if some of the more pornographic dialogue might lead readers to believe otherwise. The Souma Family is recognized as abnormal in-universe, and yet the author portrays them as women in freedom. Despite this, the sexual acts are kept secret, so the societal reactions remain unexplored. The last story I'm going to be analyzing deals more with the way society accepts and rejects what it perceives as normal and abnormal. It also works as yet another reminder that there should be limits to everything. MC High is a manga with the central gimmick of mind-controlled sex. It is only until the final two chapters that the series' darker tones and controversial topics come up. MC High tells the story of a recluse girls-only catholic school in which the chimes of the central bell cause everyone to turn into sex maniacs. The final volume, however, brings up the mystery of the bell as something more than an excuse for the pornographic content. The mastermind behind the hypnosis was a girl whose parents were a porn actress and a common businessman respectively. They were both very open about what sex meant, as well as very progressive and, in her eyes, proper people. However, once her father got to a high enough position in his company, the media started attacking the family due to the mother's line of work. All three of them were constantly harassed and eventually, the mother killed herself. This backstory led this main, unnamed, mastermind to alter the morals of everyone at her school with a mind-altering drug. When one of the few free girls calls her insane for what she's done, she answers: "What's the difference between education and brainwashing anyways? Education means nothing but taking the morals society deems as standard and forcing them into the heads of immature children, wouldn't you agree?" She then goes to claim that in an island where everyone but one girl is brainwashed, that girl should be considered the insane one. There are two things worthy of note: first, this is more thought provoking social commentary than the entirety of Persona 5, second, the words of this character don't reflect the those of Mizuryu. While he indeed idealizes a world of sexual freedom, the artwork and panel composition still frame this girl as someone whose head has gone wrong. The ideas of moral and normality shouldn't be forced onto people. Rather they should be able to come to their own conclusions. Without realizing it, this girl is contradicting her own arguments. Mizuryu Kei condemns the representation of sex as a taboo, but he also rejects forcing his ideals upon others. Throughout his works, Mizuryu Kei has shown his outlook on sexuality: people should have the freedom to exercise it without fear of being judged so long as they respect one another. Despite the constant use of pornographic language like "slut" and "whore", there is an underlying mutual understanding on the parties involved; when that isn't present, freedom becomes debauchery. Mizuryu Kei wants to see a world in which everyone is allowed to indulge in carnality so long as it is in good nature; as long as everyone is enjoying themselves and having fun.

Kaori's Letter

Dear Arima Kousei, It feels weird writing a letter to someone you were just with… You’re the worst. Indecisive. Gullible. Twit. The first time I ever saw you perform, I was 5 years old. It was at a recital for the piano school I was going to. This awkward, clumsy kid came onto the stage and accidentally hit the piano stool with his butt. It was too funny. He turned to the piano that was way too big for him and the moment he played that first note, I was drawn in. The sound was beautiful, like a 24-colour palette. The melodies danced. The girl next to me started crying. I wasn’t expecting that at all. And even so, you gave up the piano. Even though it totally changed other people’s lives. You’re the worst. Indecisive. Gullible. Twit. (Cut to Kaori as a kid, telling her parents she’s giving up piano for violin because she wants Kousei to play again.) When I found out we were in the same middle school, I was ecstatic. But how would I ever come to talk to you? Maybe I’d hang out at the lunch concession. Instead, I just watched you from afar. I mean. After all. You all seemed to get along so well. There wasn’t really any space in there for someone like me. When I was a kid, I had to have an operation and I started having to be at the hospital for regular check-ups. In the first year of middle school, I collapsed and I was admitted over and over. With every visit, I was there for longer and longer. Really, I didn’t get to class much in middle school, I spent more time at the hospital. And I knew something was wrong with my body. One night, I saw my parents crying in the waiting room and I knew that my time was running out. That’s when I ran away. I didn’t want to bring my regrets with me to heaven, so I stopped holding back from what the things I always wanted to do. I wasn’t scared anymore to get contact lenses. I ate what I wanted instead of always worrying about my weight. And I took the music with all its high and mighty directives and played it the way I wanted. And then I told a lie. Just one. I lied and said that I, Miyazono Kaori, liked Watari Ryouta. And that lie brought you to me. Please apologize to Watari for me… though I’m sure he’s forgotten me by now. I think I need someone more wholehearted and earnest than him. I think we’d be fine as friends though. And please apologize to Tsubaki for me too. I want for there to be no hard feelings. And there was one thing I could never ask of her, to ask her directly to introduce the two of us. I don’t think she would’ve had an answer for me. After all, she was in love with you. We all knew that. I think the only people who didn’t know were you and her. That underhanded lie brought me to you didn’t work out the way I had imagined. It was darker. And meaner. And denser. And more stubborn. And more perverted. And softer. And more masculine. And sweet. Remember that bridge we jumped off? The water was so cool and refreshing. Racing each other alongside the train. I really thought I could win. The moon was saw from the music room that night, like a delicious-looking bun. Singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with you as we rode on that bike together. Then falling out time. We’re awful singers. At the school at night. I’m still sure there was something there. The falling snow, just like cherry blossoms. It’s strange to be a musician, but then to have your heart so filled by something that comes from off-stage. They’re unforgettable scenes to me. But they’re such little things. It’s weird, isn’t it? What do you think? Do you think I made it into anyone’s heart like that? I wonder if I made it into yours. I wonder if you’ll still remember me. If you forget me, I’ll just come back and...No, I don’t want to start over. Please don’t forget me. Promise me you won’t forget me. I’m glad it was you. I hope this reaches you, Arima Kousei. I love you. I love you. I love you. I’m sorry we couldn’t eat all those canelés. I’m sorry I hit you so much. I’m sorry I was so selfish. I’m so, so, so, so sorry. Thank you for everything. Miyazono Kaori
