Note: Inspiring Anime Quote #85 and the music recommendation will not be here until Monday due to working on a mother's day surprise for my parent that has been in the works for the week! Please go hug your mother and tell her how much you love her. If you don't have a mom..go to the person that is similar and still hug them. Seriously, they are some of the best heroes we have in this world.
I've worked really hard on this first top ten list so I hope you guys enjoy it!
Cheers ^^!
Ah cartoons..some say they are just for kids while I say that they provide some of the most imaginative wisdom that can teach any adult some pretty neat stuff. What some don't realize is that plenty of cartoons provide just as much maturity that anime supplies. Within these pieces of animations can even be songs that will make us laugh to teaching us what it means to live life. With that in mind, here are MY top ten favorite cartoon songs!
#10
Adventure Time: Punch All Your Buns
Some could argue this does not classify as a song but to me it totally gives off the right laughs for how random it is within a pretty deep complex episode within Adventure Time. If you haven't this show it pretty much makes fun of everything from anime to gaming to just life. Anything you can find on the internet has probably been made fun of in this series. This episode specifically has one of more important characters Marceline the Vampire Queen go through a psychological journey where she remembers why her current boyfriend is not worth dating. The main character Finn ends up putting her inside his own mind at one point where she discovers him as a baby...singing about punches witches for fun. Its adorable. Its random. Its amazing. That is all.

Hercules the Animated Series: My Town
Hercules is one of my favorite Disney films and its one of many that has its own cartoon. The Hercules Animated Series is pretty...blegh to say the least as it focuses on Hercules while in training more than being the fun crazy character that can take on hundreds of monsters. To me the movie already accomplished his weaker younger self to the point where it felt kind of bland to have an entire series based on that timeline. However, one of the episodes has the main villain Hades seemingly winning and ruling the world of Olympus. At this point he FINALLY gets his own song number which in my opinion was something the actual movie needed...IN MY TOWN!
#8
Fairly Odd Parents:Give me the Wand
Like many other people I grew up with the Fairly Odd Parents which is a cartoon that STILL airs to this day. Its a lot like the Simpsons where its not nearly as funny as it use to be but its still cool that new generations can enjoy it while the train is still going. Seeing young Timmy Turner having to use his magical fairies to solve stupid yet relatable problems was fun for me. While this song definitely came from easily one of the worst specials I've seen for the show..whoever wrote this knew how to write something fun enough where it made the experience memorable. Its just a fun villain song that gets interrupted with even more craziness by having Cosmo the fairy jump in to sing with a female voice x)
#7
Teen Titans Theme Song:When There's Trouble-Beast Boy Version
When there's trouble you know who to call....TEEN TITANS GO! I loved this series! The original was such a deep motivating experience about five super heroes..Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beastboy, and Raven living under the same roof while going through their own story arcs each season. Teen Titans is the prime example of a cartoon that technically could of been classified as "anime' if it was made in Japan due to its story arc format. CLEARLY its not anime but it was definitely dark enough to be with what the writers went into during Raven's storylines especially. This version of the theme song is from the movie "Trouble in Tokyo" where Beastboy finds himself singing at a karaoke bar in Japan in order to impress a bunch of Japanese girls. .....Why didn't I try this!?
#6
Steven Universe:Giant Woman
STEVEN UNIVERSE! If you have not seen this cartoon and you like deep content I highly recommend it. It starts off so goofy but evolves into some of the most heart warming storytelling I've seen. It centers on young Steven Universe who fights together with his female comrades "The Crystal Gems" who we goes on magical adventures with. This series makes fun of gaming, anime, and pulls a lot more action than that of Adventure Time. Its not a show you will think you will like unless sitting through it.
In this episode Steven finds out that the the gems can fuse together into different forms. Being the kid that he is...Steven goes into a song number about how he wants them to fuse together so he finally see a giant woman xD.. All I want to do..is see you turn into..a giant woman..A GIANT WOMAN!
#5
Adventure Time: What am I to you?
Adventure Time takes another spot with an actual full song! This one is very popular online and the reason being is because so many people can relate to it! We have the main cast of characters Fin, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, and Marceline trying to get behind this singing door that requires a good song. Finn is going through a bit of a problem with Bubbegum trying to figure out where he stands in her heart since their age gap is kind of weird. Is he her brother? Love interest? Its a cool deep song on understanding feelings.
#4
Code Lyoko Theme Song
Hey! Ever seen Code Lyoko before? Probably not and guess what..its a bummer that you haven't. Code Lyoko was without a doubt one of the coolest mixes of 2d and 3d in an animated cartoon. Like with Teen Titans, its not hard to be confused if this is an anime. Actually, Code Lyoko fits the description so much more! The only thing is..it was made in France ;) . It focuses on a group of teenagers who go into a super computer in order to stop a virus threat from destroying the world. Its an amazing cartoon that I REALLY, REALLY need to rewatch one of these days. The theme song is touching, catchy, and most of all sticks to my heart like glue.
#3
Kim Possible:Draken's Rap
Yo, yo, yo! I use to be Drew! Then I turned all blue! Kim Possible was a Disney animated cartoon that looked like it was just for girls until you watched it. Its a surprisingly well written for both genders as it focuses on a spy duo named Kim and Ron who go on missions to stop the evil Doctor Draken from ruling the world. It was well written to the extent that I think Disney really should consider a reboot one of these days. In this episode Doctor Draken takes his ruling the world ideas to the biggest extreme by sponsoring his brainwash shampoo on American Idol. I don't know why but I love this song and man can Draken rap!
#2
Steven Universe: Stronger Than You
Steven Universe also takes TWO spots and this is mostly because the cartoon is FULL of songs. This one is INSANELY well known among the internet and has been rewritten for OTHER SERIES AND GAMES. Pretty much this whole song is about the female character Garnet fighting her toughest foe and singing about how she won't lose. I don't want to spoil what the context of her lines are but this is the prime example of why Steven Universe is so damn good. The lyrics get to my emotions everytime and remind me of what I want to accomplish as a person.

Kappa Mikey: Don't you see?
I doubt you've seen this. Seriously, if you have seen Kappa Mikey I WILL BEFRIEND YOU RIGHT NOW. This cartoon was one of my all time favorites as a kid for being not only one of the weirdest parodies of anime ever but holding such a golden heart of laughs. The series focused on a young man named Mikey who gets recruited to act in an insanely cheesy TV show over in Japan where he meets a cast of characters who make fun of practically every stereotype in anime. It wasn't perfect by any means but man...that theme song. Every. SINGLE. TIME. *ahem*
HEY! HEY! LOOK! LOOK! DON"T YOU SEE THE MAN IS KAPPA MIKEY? LOOK! DON"T YOU SEE THE MAN IS KAPPA MIKEY? ROCKING THE STREETS! HEY! LOOK! STREETS! KAPPA MIKEY!
*break dances*
Kuromukuro - Episode 5
The show broke its streak of good episodes this week :(
I've got nothing against the introduction of a school setting, if it's used to focus on the characters and their chemistry, but they did nothing with it except for introducing the most barebones tropes and rehashing the same jokes from the last 2 weeks.
I'm also baffled by the show's treatment of Yukina, her character was stripped of all agency and interesting aspects, after her great introduction in ep1.
The animation is still great, at least.
Joker Game - Episode 5
It was pretty good, except for Alienface-san. Seriously, what's up with that guy?
They had some really good animators on board, and the episode had a cinematic vibe that you don't see often in anime.
The characterization was barely present, as always, but the thriller aspects were well-executed, with less silly stuff compared to the previous vignettes, and the big twist was kinda cool.
I watched this movie last night with my friend http://myanimelist.net/profile/TsundereQueenDS at a Movix in Kyoto (Address: 〒604-8035 Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto, 中京区新京極通三条下る桜之町400).
It was really fun watching it in a movie theater and the ending theme for the movie was beautiful. We also saw a poster for the next Kyoto Animation movie, A Silent Voice, there too. Can't wait to see that one as well!
I personally think MAL's rating system is decent enough, but let me elaborate more on my own personal rating:
10 - Only my absolute favourites get this score. Doesn't mean the series is perfect. Perfection is impossible.
9 - I hate giving out nines. It's like the anime is almost a masterpiece in my eyes, but there's just something lacking.
8 - As MAL itself says: it's very good. Highly enjoyable. A good production.
7 - Good. Just good. No big feelings. Although there's a few exceptions where a series is objectively kind of shitty but I still like them very much (e.g. Aldnoah.Zero) but I'm just unable to give them more than good ol' 7 because of big flaws.
6 - Almost the same as 7, but annoying to watch at times.
5 - Plain average. Not good or bad.
4 - Now we cross the border of bad. A chore to watch almost the whole time.
3 - Terrible. A waste of time.
2 - No. Just no. The series has to be wrong on many levels to get 2.
1 - The series is so bad it's actually a masterpiece but I don't want my mean score to rise.
Btw, first blog post, yay.
*Watches Angel Beats Opening for the first time* Hmmm… Okay, this show has a weird name. Okay, there’s a girl playing a piano, alright. Now there’s some random students, good thing I can’t read Japanese. Okay, now there’s a band… Wow, this show looks kinda gay. I wonder if I got trolled when that one guy suggested it to me- Wait! Did that schoolgirl just pull out a Beretta? Oh dear god I am going to love this show.
This is my sixth review of an anime upon my entrance into the community. If you would like to know more about me and what I am to provide from this review, I suggest you click on the following Link
[1]Synopsis
Angel Beats starts off with our main protagonist, Otonashi, waking up in a school courtyard with no memories of who he is, how he got there, or more importantly, what the pretty girl who is crouched next to him is doing with an M200 Intervention.
The girl, Yuri, explains to Otonashi that he and everyone he sees in this world is either not real or dead. The place where he is in is calledThe Matrix Afterlife Academy. The academy acts as a form of limbo/ purgatory for those souls who are unhappy with their lives and wish to strike back against God.
Yuri is the head of an organization dubbed (after many failed suggestions) The Afterlife Battlefront. Their goal is to seek retribution against god for their awful lives, but they must first go through the person who they suspect to be his messenger, the Student Body President, a person they have dubbed Angel.
Afterlife Academy does not follow a conventional set of rules. As Otonashi learns in his first encounter with Angel, people here can survive fatal blows such as impalement through the chest after a few hours of incapacitation. Guns and weapons can be made from substances such as dirt as long as the creator follows a few simple rules. The students and faculty in Afterlife Academy walk around almost oblivious to the antics of the Afterlife Battlefront club, being (as the show describes) “programmed like ambient background NPC’s. Any action we perform in their presence will be brushed off as normal”.
But the members of the Battlefront are not invincible in this world; besides a short time or regeneration after wounds, the deceased spirits all fear that if they were to normalize the antics of school life, become too powerful for Angel to fight, or cause too much harm to NPC’s, that they will be “Obliterated”, a mysterious occurrence where individuals fade from their current plain of existence. Are they reincarnated as flies? Are they given a One Way ticket to Hell (Something I got after hitting puberty)? Or are they sent to eternal suffering in some sort of indescribable torment? They don’t know, and as such they have adopted strict rules to stay alive.
Shortly after recovery, Otonashi joins the Afterlife Battlefront and meets the crew protesting against the will of God. Ranging from their fearless leader Yuri, the clumsy and possibly gay Hinata, a 200+ year old ninja named Shiina, and everyone’s fan favorite Engrish speaking Detroiter Stereotype, TK.
But, as Otonashi and his newfound friends perform operations in the Afterlife Battlefront, he begins to become strangely attracted to Angel, possibly seeing a side that everyone else has overlooked, and has an epiphany that the purpose of Afterlife Academy may be different than what everyone else has assumed…
[2]Technical aspects
Angel Beats! Was produced by P.A. Works and was streamed in Japanese via a 14 day trial at Crunchy Roll.
The first thing that I feel that I need to properly describe in this show is that it has 3 genres to it; First off, it is a comedy, it loves to joke around and has so masterfully done slapstick. Secondly, It is has Slice of Life Elements to it, which I will focus on in just a moment, and third, it attempts to be sad at points, I say “attempts” because sadness is probably one of the hardest emotions to invoke, so I will leave that up to you.
So, starting with the animation, I will simply say that… its amazing. The show has some really good action shots, sure. All of the guns are rendered magnificently and *gasp* all of the students practice strict trigger discipline, the knife fighting is impressive, but that isn’t even where the animation shines.
Being that this is a slice of life show, there are non-combat or fighting things that happen, such as a rock show, and a full baseball game. All of the animation in the non-fighting scenes looks even better than when they are fighting. Namely the rock show looked so smoothly done that I actually rewound the episode to make sure I wasn’t just watching pretty CGI.
In the Music department, the ambient soundtrack in the SOL parts is good, and the music that accents the fighting is good as well, but the original music, namely the songs featured in Episode 3, are very well done. I’m not much of a music guy, but I will say that it is nice. the Opening theme, while I didn’t necessarily care for it at first, got alright near the end, but didn’t do much for me. I will say that the ending sequence, “Brave Song” by Aoi Tada, started off as “good” in my book, and got significantly better until the final episode where I was sobbing on my desk with a bottle of whisky contemplating hanging myself by a lanyard… People who have finished the show will understand.
Kind of like the ending to the first season of Sword Art Online, I feel like the ending theme, once properly understood, does make a surprisingly interesting argument about the nature of growing up and moving on, of which I will address below.
But going onto the final tag of what Angel Beats! Is, I come to a part that is somewhat conflicting. While still beautiful composure, I think it forces the sad piano tracks to kind of remind the viewer of what is happening. Yes, soundtracks are designed to cue us in to what the director wants us to feel, but at the same time, to those who don’t find this sad the use of the piano tracks at those moments may come off as patronizing.
[3]Personal Thoughts
One of the first things I learned about Angel Beats! that truly surprised me was that unlike the majority of anime, it was not actually based on the same material in another medium. While there was supplemental material released afterwards, I did not pursue it as I am simply reviewing the show.
With that being said though, one of the things that really felt somewhat disappointing about the show was that it was simply too short. With some of the politics involved in financing a project I see this as a consequence of a directing team going out and making something they wanted to instead of trying to adopt someone else’s artwork, but I digress. The show is short, but while it does cram a lot into it, it does have a fulfilling conclusion even though you want to know more about the characters involved. I feel the show would greatly benefit from having 26 episodes rather than 13.
To use The Lord of the Rings as an analogy, Angel Beats is complete in that it shows Frodo and Sam throw the ring into the fires of Mount Doom, but it lacks in the areas of character development of the friendship of Legolas and Gimli, we would never have a full explanation of why Aragon is the King, or how Gandalf survives the fight with the Balrog.
The Characters and antics in Angel Beats are entertaining, one of the most common things said about the show is how all the members of the Afterlife Battlefront Brigade are all incredibly stupid and incompetent, which makes their slapstick torment even funnier. But I do think that it should be said that the characters in the show are all very diverse and we get just enough hints as to who they are, what their desires are, and how they are fulfilled, but what was so disappointing about it all is that we don’t get to know them enough or get specific and definite closure on them all. Which to me is a blessing and a curse. The way we learn about characters is often not by the show directly telling us. Granted it does happen a few times, but for the most part, by paying attention to members of the main cast we get to learn the intricacies about who they are and what they wanted in life.
For example, my favorite character was a guy by the name of Chaa
Chaa is the director of “The guild”, the people who make the guns in the Afterlife Academy. He looks every part of the grease monkey and loves to tinker away with things. He is only present in possibly 2 episodes, but in his second appearance during the climax, in only a few words and body language we learn all we need to know about Chaa. Everything he was doing, building all the guns, organizing all the guild members, and helping Yuri fight against God, was all just for him to try to make a girl notice him for what he was and what he did. I would guess that in his previous life, he was a mechanic or engineer of some sort and either never found time for a companion, or doubted himself so much that he never would have thought that a woman would see past his oil and dust covered overalls to see the man that he was. As the last member of the Guild, he makes his last weapon, an ungodly abomination of an M4 with a gigantic Beta C Mag, and all he wanted in return was for Yuri to say “Thank You,” and he was gone.
One of the central themes that I really thought was overlooked (and the reason why I was crying like a fucking pussy in the end) was that for as much as the show is about guns, high schoolers, and whatnot, it’s really about moving on and coming to terms with your past. As the ending theme states, “There comes a time when people only live through their memories.” And with Angel Beats, and people in general, we need to accept the actions we have done in our pasts and accept that there are times in which we move on. I happened to watch Angel Beats 2 weeks before I finally graduated from College, at a time when I was thinking about the things that I had done. I hated High school and thought it was a waste of time, I sped through college working part time and commuting every day. So I was beginning to have nights were I was sitting there and experiencing something that I had never felt before. Regret.
What had I passed up by not joining a Fraternity? What stupid and timeless antics had I missed not living in a dorm? What would have happened if I did go to the bar and got absolutely shitfaced and passed out in the corner? What was I missing when I was working while everyone else was at the football stadium? Should I have joined a rec sports team? Should I have stopped being a pussy and asked that one girl out to the Black Tie Event?
Angel Beats! Helped me realize what I was doing and snapped out of it. Times come and go, Life is short, and that’s a fact, but it’s even shorter if you live in your memories of what could and couldn’t have been. You can try to blame it on the circumstances, you can go and put shift the guilt on fate or god, but it doesn’t really matter because in the end all you’re doing is fighting yourself. Because of this realization, I decided to withhold this review until the day I graduate to sort of… bring the point home, in a way.
All right, now I’m starting to sound like a faggot. Back to the Show!
With the show, there are a few “Plot holes”, using more liberal modern terms that you will need to accept, but more often than not it’s more to do with that there are a few questions that aren’t answered or give a good enough answer. Sometimes with the main cast’s complete incompetence you will find a major plot point to be rather contrived. But in the last episode, what was really jarring to me was how certain characters… “Changed” in some incredibly out of character ways. It’s nothing that will ruin the show, but it does make you turn your head in confusion. I have written on it myself a well:

[4]Rating
If you would give me a moment, I would like to go over how I rate things. Instead of using a number based system to rank shows against each other, I instead use my rating system instead to show MY personal enjoyment of a series ranging from 0-5. A 0 means that a show is absolutely terrible, but after that, the numbers are different ways of showing my recommendation and enjoyment of the show.
1 means I did not enjoy it, but there may be an audience for it out there.
2 means I that I didn't enjoy it, but that it has more to do with me than the show.
3 means that it had some enjoyable parts to it, but I think it should be watched to see what the fuss is about.
4 means I enjoyed it so much that I recommend it to others.
5 means I enjoyed it so much that I not only recommend it to others, but would willingly watch it again after watching the credits roll.
So with that being said, I rank Angel Beats! a...
5
I liked this show, yes it was short, and it had some rather awkward character moments, but I thought it was really good. So good that I am actually considering watching through it with a friend. It really reminded me a lot of D-Frag, another highschool SOL that I liked and only had 13 episodes, but unlike D-Frag, this show had a proper conclusion to it. I just want you to remember though, this is based out of my subjective enjoyment. A few weeks later, I may change my mind on the show, and hell, I don’t even think this show is the most emotionally stirring show anime has to offer. But one thing that I will say is that although it won’t make you feel as sad as I think it wants you to feel, I do think that you will take something away from it in the end.

Feel free to tell me how I did with this review.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go cut myself in a corner while listening to Frank Sinatra.
INCOMING RANT
Now, I was going to include this in my Personal thoughts segment, but I decided not to because I want to follow one of my promises to not include any “Politics” in my review. I assure you that this had no impact in my thoughts and feelings regarding Angel Beats, as I came across these after I had completed the show.
Now, I am not a critic, I am not a reviewer, I am not a professional of any sort of art. I am just a guy who promises to be honest to the best of my ability. With that being said, I think that there are only a very few things that should not be criticized, not because I am some sort of pompous ass that knows better, but because almost everything can be debated. But when it comes down to criticizing a product, I think that there is a duty of the person sending the criticism to actually make sure that the issues they are bringing up are worth criticism in the first place and not fucking stupid.
What I am bringing up is the allegations of plagiarism and copying certain elements from other shows and being used in Angel Beats! The claims are rather shallow and their evidence is equally so. These mainly pertain to Angel Beats ripping of the character of Angel in relation to Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion, and that the overall premise, emblem and character of Yuri was ripped off of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’s main character and club emblem.
First off, this isn’t plagiarism, plain and simple if anyone thinks this is the case they need to look up the definition of the word. While I can say that I see similarities in the character model of Haruhi and Yuri, namely in the hair and ribbon accessory, the role of the girls is completely different, Haruhi was designed to be a Mary Sue in a self-Aware Comedy, Angel Beats! is not. Besides that, the dress and role the girls play is also completely different.
Otherwise, Angel and Rei are not the same character either. They are the same trope. Since Neon Genesis Evangelion came out much earlier people claim that this show was the spawning point of many tropes in the anime community, this may be correct, I don’t simply know. But accepting that as the case, just because a character is the Patient Zero of what is to be a future trope does not make it significantly better or give it a pass from falling in line with the rest of the stereotype.
A trope is a trope, it’s a broad brush shorthand to quickly label and describe a character without going into details. The category of Rei and Angel, which I believe is what is called a Kuudere, is irrelevant in describing or criticizing the show or the character as it is just a simple comparison that isn’t worth any intellectual value.
It’s as stupid as me saying “Bah, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is just a ripoff of Bladerunner” or “All these plebs who think Deadman Wonderland is good are dumbasses who don’t realize it’s a ripoff of The Running Man.” Plus, let’s be honest, if anything, Angel is most similar to Yuki Nagato from Haruhi Suzumiya
I just want to reiterate, if you don’t like the show, that’s fine. If you can name a reason that actually makes sense, like say; the show tried too hard to be emotional, the premise was shallow, the final characters in the last episode acted out of character for no reason, the Big Bad Guy in the end was anticlimactic, that’s even better! But please, for the love of Christ, at least attempt to make it more than just some juvenile squabble of “This character looks too much like this!” In the end, all it does is make you(not talking about you in particular, dear reader) look like a fucking moron, and people like me look like an asshole for having to make this patronizingly stupid argument.
People recommended me Durarara!! after I liked so much Baccano!, and I gotta say this guy really knows how to tell a story. There is a lot of twists and surprises and he creates tons of characters but the narrative is so dynamic that everything comes together.
I'm enjoying Durarara but I don't think it's nowhere near as good as Baccano and it's sad Baccano got just those few episodes and especials while Durarara got so much stuff, but I can see why it appeals more for the target audience, with teenage romance and stuff...
But something seen really wrong to me... in Baccano you had Ladd saying he was going to kill his fiance everytime, but the guy was a sadistic psycho so it's ok, but then on Durarara
Celty discovers the guy that she was living with have been shamelessly lying to her for years and years about the most important thing to her and she finds it so romantic and falls in love with him... and Mikado tells Mika that's so awesome that she still loves the guy that slammed her head against the wall trying to kill her and tried to use his family influence to get rid of her body before even checking if she was still alive, and they put that it's so romantic and cute that the guy accepts having a relation with her even while feeling nothing just cause she reminds him of other person and that her self sacrificing love is so beautiful...
like... really... what the fuck!? I'm starting to lose respect for Ryohgo Narita...
argh... and a little off-topic, I can't understand how shit like Mirai Nikki gets so popular, and how people think it's romantic...

"My Mom was my role model before I even knew what that word was"
Mother's Day is here so I wanted to do a reflection entry on this day in regards to my own Mother who is easily the strongest person I know in my entire life. Yeah, its easy to be very cheesy when talking about how much you love your parents. Fact is, I got one parent and she raised THREE kids by herself while taking multiple jobs. I was born in Brooklyn New York to boot so I did not live in a well safe area full of luxury. It was the type of place where if you left your car parked outside..well..sometimes don't expect the windows to be in safe condition.
As a child I never understood the struggles my Mom went through to raise me. Her aura was insanely powerful to the point where her own poker face of being confident was never outmatched. I remember during the cold late nights being four years old waiting for her to come home and around the clock of 10pm she'd enter like it was nothing. It was as if she appeared again like magic. As a kid I didn't understand what a "job" was so to me..mother just vanished until it was insanely dark. Even though we would suffer so much financially she would STILL surprise me like it wasn't a problem. One day it would be a cat plush. The next day it would be candy. Everytime Mom would hand me those presents..the smile on her face looked so proud. You could tell within her eyes that she was satisfied even through the worst days.
I didn't understand what that smile meant until years later where I witnessed her first break down into tears about losing a job. It dawned on me then...Mom was sacrificing so much to keep me afloat. The clothes I was wearing. The education that I had. The stuff in my room. Everything. It was from her constant hours of stress and pain without outside happiness. In a lot of ways...I took 95% of my Mother's life away and she was doing her best to accept it as it was the duty of any parent to keep going.
Want to know the coolest thing about my Mom though? Everytime. Somehow. Someway. She is so stubborn about never going up. Her stubborn attitude to never face defeat is so powerful that it rubbed off on me. Everything about me being stubborn came from her.
During my time in Junior High School I made a promise to myself: I was going to be successful. I was going to free my Mother of the financial stress. My mind removed the constant desire to be accepted among my peers but instead hit the books. Day after day I would enjoy my hobbies but give the same 95% of own life to studying. Years passed and I became a 3.8 GPA student that was determined to get into the best university possible. ...The fault with this concept was that whenever I failed at something it made me feel like I let my Mom down horribly(sometimes I would fall asleep instead of studying). This is why I'm actually so sensitive when I let somebody down because I know first hand to know a person secretly in pain. One day I got a C- on an exam and still..my Mom would hug me tightly with a funny sarcastic expression while saying, "Aw darn, you didn't get a D+..maybe next time ;)". Studying in my household was fun because it wasn't pressuring but more hard working.
What I want to say in regards to Mother's Day or any parent focused day..it doesn't have to be the person who gave birth to you that you can celebrate it over. To me, the true definition of a parent is the one who looks after you even through the worst. NO PARENT is perfect and I want to stress that because even if you have a tough relation with one of them..it can technically get better through communication and growth between you two.
I'm eternally blessed for the Hero who raised me! What she taught me up to being an adult will be the values I will teach upon my children as I really want to become a wonderful father one day in the distant future.
Please don't forget, Moms are human beings with feelings, emotions, and the desire to live their own lives past just raising you. Use what your own parent teaches you to give back especially on this day : ).
