So I recently just finished two ecchi shows: To LOVE-Ru Darkness and Samurai Bride. However, I enjoyed To LOVE-Ru much more than Samurai Bride. Why?
I think this is more than just "one show was better than the other" for me. This was a matter of expectations. Both of these shows are sequels and I had certain expectations for each show based on how to prequel was.
For To-LOVE Ru, I have never watched the anime, but I have read the manga and I decided to wanted to see how the anime adaption handled it. Basically, I was expecting a dumb, comedic show with lots of tripping from Rito and that's what I got.
Samurai Bride, on the other hand, was completely off from my expectations. I never the novel for Samurai Girls, but I have watched the first season. What I expected was a show that had a lot of stylized fight scenes, but what I got was a maid cafe. This was really disappointing to me and is probably the reason why I was so let down by Samurai Bride. Not to mention that I feel that every character in the Samurai Girls series is basically a trope and all of them are predictable and aren't fleshed out very well.
