Anyway, I would like to tell everyone a story, this is a story about a girl, an unpopular girl, with social anxiety. Her name is Tomoko Kuroki. Lately I have been getting a lot of hate for having a particular interest in this female anime character. Yes, I understand that people who do not experience social anxiety have little to relate with such a character as Tomoko.
In this Blog Entry, I would like to share 10 qualities about Tomoko Kuroki that may change your perspectives, and see her as a character that is actually quite beautiful and unique in perspective.
Here they are.
1. Tomoko is an Otaku like all of us are. That counts for something.
2. Tomoko actually deals with her problems/conditions rather than just throwing out cheap punchlines like "It is what it is."
3. Tomoko is pure in heart and spirit.
4. Tomoko has one of the sexist hairstyles in all of anime.
5. Tomoko is popular enough to hang out with EXTREMELY POPULAR PERSONALITY TYPES like Yuu-Chan.
6. Tomoko has a younger cousin who looks up to her! (Kii-Chan.) Meaning, Tomoko has mentor and leadership qualities to some people who admire her.
7. Tomoko is the QUEEN in TCG Tournaments, locally.
8. Tomoko pushes herself to do A LOT MORE than most people who have the social anxiety condition. Examples: She will push herself to read magazines/mangas in book stores around lots of people. She will push herself to transact at restaurants check out's, even though these kind of situations usually make her feel socially anxious. She will even go out to some of the most dangerous - night life - districts in Japan, to expose her anxieties to environments that usually provoke nervousness. It goes on from these, but I just wanted to name a few.
9. Tomoko, whether we like to admit it or not, is very attractive, pretty, and beautiful. Her giant green eyes, her rock-star hair, her cute figure, and her dreamy smile; yes, it is without misconception that Tomoko is a beauty among many female Bishoujo Girls.
10. Tomoko knows a lot, and is quite passionate, about the things she is interested in, and is often able to go into a lot of information-wealth when it comes to sharing news and updates on what she has learned herself about these areas that she loves. These conversations do not happen often, of course, because Tomoko only gets to share these things when she is out with her friend Yuu-Chan, who also has a level of interest in the Otaku lifestyle as well. Tomoko, to break it down, is able to keep the flow of entertaining conversation going for longer than she usually gives herself credit for, and that is a characteristic and quality that is worth denoting a unique and even energetic quality.
So here you have it, 10 things about Tomoko Kuroki that just may change your perspective if you haven't really taken the initiative to see what's awesome, beautiful, and unique about Tomoko Kuroki.
