Buy online. So, I did end up buying some anime action figure. It was $70 bucks on Amazon but guaranteed to be delivered to my condo in one day. I think that's pretty cool. Instead of visiting 3 stores to find ( which would probably be more expensive) you could get online in like two seconds.
It was the original thing that got me into figma: the Captain Levi Cleaning Version.

This action figure is unique. Honestly, I can't think of an action figure where the hero is in cleaning gear not killing people. It's super bendable and I'll probably use it as a model for drawing . I'll pose it on my desk, coffee table, TV, or anywhere it is clean. It will remind me to keep stuff clean and would be an interesting conversation piece. I also love the character Levi. Then again, these are reasons for buying something that I'm not sure I'll have down the road.
For instance, I used to be so passionate about painting that I bought books and produced one painting a week for 3 months. I spent 3-6 hours a day painting studying the techniques of old masters: glazing, figure painting, and landscape. I couldn't draw, so I plotted points with a calculator . I had scrap paper with numbers and proportions of pictures from Monet, dominocos theocopolis, Paul gaguin, lautrec, and Modigliani meticulously measuring eye placement or curve of the butt. I painted on poster boards , cardboard, canvas. I did cardboard sculpture.
Although, I discovered something about myself after hanging out with some weird fuckers. They thought I was like them: creative, free spirited, poetry loving. Except I wasn't. My art was pure measurement and cold. I literally traced millimeters to make the art effects that people do on a whim. I can't free draw for shit, but I can do a Toulouse recreation on cardboard overnight.
I was essentially "arts and craft tony romo".
The question is that am I going to become an obsessive anime collector tony romo? No. I bought other weird stuff that I didn't go down that route: a Serbian film with the cardboard jewel case, 4 out of 6 volumes of Planetes, double lap dances, cruise ship jewelry, and an Oakland Raiders football signed by Phil villapiano ( famous old linebacker). I don't collect disgusting movies, anime DVDs, go to strip clubs, or buy sports memorabilia. I got the football for free, the Serbian film was limited, got too drunk( applies to lap dances and cruise ship) and Planetes was rare. Owning one anime action figure is not going to ruin my life because I am self aware enough.
Now, I need to get rid of something. I have a personal rule that if you buy a pair a clothes, you get rid of something.
