Final Fantasy XV First Impressions

*** Final Fantasy XV First Impressions *** Developed by Square Enix Business Division 2 (every single Final Fantasy game in existance) Directed by Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy Type-0, Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) Written by Kazushige Nojima (numorous Square projects since Final Fantasy VII) + Music composed by Yoko Shimomura (the Kingdom Hearts series, the "Mario & Luigi" RPG series) What Wiki Says: Final Fantasy XV is an open world action role-playing game where players take control of main protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum during his journey across the world of Eos. While accompanied by his three companions Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto, Noctis is the only character directly controlled by the player. The story takes place on the fictional world of Eos. All the world's countries—bar the kingdom of Lucis—are under the dominion of the empire of Niflheim. Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the Lucian throne, goes on a quest to retake his homeland and its magical crystal after it is seized by Niflheim on the eve of peace negotiations between the two nations. The game shares a thematic connection with Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy, a subseries of games linked by a common mythos which includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0. The land, once divided between multiple nations including Lucis and Tenebrae, has almost entirely come under the dominion of the empire of Niflheim (which is technologically advanced). Only Lucis has managed to keep Niflheim's Magitek army at bay through the use of the Crystal, a magical artifact gifted by the world's deities in antiquity, accessed through the hereditary Ring of the Lucii. Due to possessing the world's last crystal, Lucis develops into a society isolated from the rest of Eos, protected by a magical shield that drains the reigning king of life. Tenebrae has retained limited autonomy as Niflheim's vassal due to being the home of the Oracle, a priestess with the ability to commune with the world's deities and halt a worldwide catastrophe referred to as the Starscourge, which progressively lengthens the world's nights. The story opens with Noctis and his friends Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto traveling to Accordo's capital city of Altissia, where Noctis's wedding to Lunafreya is to take place. Along the way, however, they receive news of Niflheim's betrayal of Lucis and the destruction of the capital city of Insomnia, along with the reported deaths of King Regis, Lunafreya and Noctis himself. They meet up with Crownsguard commander Cor Leonis, who tasks Noctis with retrieving the weapons of the ancient Lucian kings in order to rescue the crystal and fulfill his role as king. The game uses an action-based real-time battle system, dubbed the Active Cross Battle system. Instead of using a menu interface, the player selects commands directly mapped to buttons on the controller, such as "Attack", "Defend", "Magic", and "Item". Battles take place within the current environment rather than transitioning to a separate arena, and can range from open plains to enclosed building interiors. Noctis' companions, while controlled by the game's artificial intelligence, can perform contextual commands. As Noctis' attacks enemies, a a meter called the Link Metre fills. When full, Noctis' companies can trigger Links, cooperative actions in battle. After each battle, characters earn experience points (EXP), but they do not automatically level up when a certain amount of EXP has been gathered. Instead, the party must go to safe zones called "Havens" in the world or at designated rest sites like inns. When the party rests at night, each character gains levels depending on the amount of EXP earned. If defeated in battle, all EXP gained up to that point since the last level up is permanently lost. Activities in the overworld earn the party Ability Points (AP). AP spent on the Ascension tree, the game's skill tree system. What I Liked: - Thanks to Square/Enix's new game engine, "Luminous Studio", this installment to the series brings out the highest quality and most detailed visuals ever seen in the franchise all with no graphical slowdown during any sequence in the roughly 10 hours I've played into the game so far. This game is an absolute stunner to behold. - Even though the real-time battle system is quite new to the series it's surprizingly very simple to use. For attacking, as long as you are targeting your opponent, all you do is hold down the "O" button (on PS4) and you will just keep on attacking your target until death and then the game will auto target your next closest enemy. For defence you just hold down "Square" to block (although sometime it works, sometimes not) and at certain moments you can block and then press "O" to make a counter attack when prompted. - Everyone auto heals after each battle, however if some of your max health is depleated you have to wait a while to get it back or you have to rest up. - Ignis's "Regroup" skill, use it, love it, and get it the first moment you can, you'll thank me. - Prompto's mad photography skills is beyond human comprehension and love it that you can view and save his candid photos taken during any rest points (although he can take some really stupid and crappy ones). - Of course you need to eat to live in real life and eating in this game does you real good too. Depending on the dishes you make or get will earn you party buffs for a short while like higher HP and attacking (also you can extend the time via Ascension). - Really like how the game gives you a reccomended level to be on each quest before going to it so at least you can get more prepared for it later. - Even though the game does a pretty decent job of auto saving you can save your game literally at any point. - You can fast travel to any outpost, gas station or any parking spot found in the world for a really small fee. Also gas prices are ungodly cheap here too. No airship required (although your car can fly much later). - After the first major boss battle, go straight to the chocobo area and fight the "Deadeye" hunt, it's an awesome experience and will unlock chocobo rentals at any bird station. - This song is my JAM - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfo9QoqKIw0 - Game includes the Japanese voice track, woot! What I Didn't Like: - The day one patch is nearly 10 gigs in size! That's one gig for every year this game as been in development! - Of course with the amazeballs detail this game has the load times can be quite long, especially with fast traveling from one major area to a whole different one. However driving all the way from one place to another has no hold ups. - Speaking of driving, controlling the car is pretty wonky and this is definately not "Grand Theft Auto", you are better off having Iggy drive. - One of the biggest gripes with this is dealing with experience and money. First off, I'm not really a big fan of the whole EXP "banking" (are they taking this from Dark Souls?) and also really sucks if you have been EXP farming and then get Noct totally KOed by a tough enemy and then you have to restart all over again from your last save point. Next, killing enemies does not give you money, instead they may drop sellable items that you get money for, which, IMO, makes more sense, kind of dumb to have a giant centipede have coins on it but it's skull tusks maybe of value. - While I haven't done too much in the main story there are side quests abound in this one, however practically all of them are either "kill X monster" or "fetch X item here". Some of them are in unaccessable areas until you open them up later. - Magic using kind of takes the backseat in this one. The use of "flasks" and crafting them is pretty stupid and watch out where you use it because your allies could be damaged from it. - I did get "stuck" in the world geometry once and my only option was to load my last save, ouch! - Unless you are an admirer of Final Fantasy's music of old the car tunes don't really offer much. Other than the classic game soundtracks that you can buy at outposts you get an EDM track from "Afrojack", the soundtrack to the Kingsglaive movie (with my jam!) and some "crusin" music that offers some extremely generic and rather odd tunes. - Lastly, and just have to mention this, following the party of your all man-bro group may not be everyone's cup of tea and hardly does not offer any diversion between using them. Overall: Is this the most beautiful Final Fantasy game ever developed? Definately. Is this the best Final Fantasy game of the series? That will be extremely debatable. Personally I cannot see this game better than say FF VI or XII or even FF VII and even with the gorgeous visuals the story, after 10 hours so far, hasn't really all impressed me that much but it maybe way too early to tell how this game will eventually be turning out. Personally I really wish SQEX would release their "Episode Duscae" game demo everyone to the public because not everyone is going to dig this game but having a freebie try at it will give gamers a better grasp on what they are getting into before they get sucked into a 50 hour epic. Also if you will be investing your time into this then I highly advise you to watch the "Kingsglaive" movie due to will give you a better understanding on the story that is happening in the world, plus it's really not all that shabby to watch either, just avoid the english dub (plus it's included with the deluxe steelbook version of the game). The game is out now for Playstation 4 and Xbox One for $60 for the main game and $90 for the deluxe edition, if you don't want to deal with deluxe steelbooks the BluRay movie alone is $13.

So the prologue is like this: A necromancer existed who perfectly mastered the arts of darkness, summoning and alchemy. He was called Lovras the Harvester. But power gained doesn’t go unnoticed. The seven sages of the wizards’ order noticed his immense power and went in hope that he would join their side. The sages offered him handsome rewards, but Lovras refused. 7 sages enraged at his stubbornness attacked him. Lovras was driven to a corner and fought against the 7 sages. The battle was fierce, it lasted for 3 days. Although he was strong, in the end the sages used a combination attack and destroyed his body. There is a legend once a necromancer reaches a certain stage he is able to release his spirit from his body and look for a worthy disciple to inherit his knowledge of the dark arts. He searched for many centuries and found a white-haired kid desperately practicing swordsmanship. With one look Lovras knew that the kid had amazing affinity for magic. Please give feedback is it good or bad? Can i get it published? i currently have 2 chapters. 5 Reasons to Love Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Tonari no Kabutsu-kun or my Little Monster translated in english language, is a Rom-Com that aired in 2012. It probably won't get another season. I picked this anime up on a lazy Sunday to pass my time. It was supposed to be one of those anime that I would watch periodically, but that did not happen. Instead i finished it up in just one night. Since this is my Blog Post, I will try not to add spoilers. 5. Vibrant Characters This show has amazing characters, be it the teacher or the students or the pet! The Characters evolve during the entire series, showing us how people change bit by bit everyday. 4. Amazing Direction You won't see certain things coming out of the dark LITERALLY 3.Great Comedy! The comedy is great and light. The shows packs amazing scenes and jokes that make the journey through the show a great experience. 2. Romance This goes without saying. The show follows the young characters and their love intrests, which is nothing new. But it is the unpredictable nature of the characters keeps the veiwer interested, keeps them guessing. Which brings us to... 1.The Stroyline The storyline is absolutely brilliant. There aren't many shocking twists and turns, and the story is a little predictable, but this anime makes your heart melt. It follows the lives of teenagers, and reminds us how it used to be. The pain of being in love, the confusing times, everything is portrayed in a beautiful fashion. It will definitely melt your heart.

MyAnimeList User Stats - WebApp

A simple WebApp to showcase your Anime List User Statistics: https://rafaeldejongh-sites.ga/MyAnimeList-User-Stats/ What started as a personal side project to experiment with a few JavaScript libraries, sure changed in a bigger project than first expected! This Web App is a simple way to present some basic statistics gathered from MAL's API from each user and returns some neatly packed graphics showing various kind of information regarding your Anime List. The following information is presented to the user when they enter their MAL username into the APP: - A total of your completed Anime - A total of your completed Episodes - Top X Anime Series (Based on your Favorites on your profile) - Rated Series (1-10) - Series Type (TV,OVA,Movies,Specials,ONA,Music) - Anime Completed Per Decade (Starting from 1970) This application makes use of the following JavaScript libraries to present the data in a fancy way: - Jquery - Jquery Easing - XML2JSON - FullPage.js - Chart.js I can say however that without the additional assistance from the MAL User and fellow Web Developer FoxInFlame, with his own made API called Matomari (https://github.com/FoxInFlame/matomari) I probably wouldn't be able to have made it more dynamic to where every user can view his own personal information. Especially at first getting around the Cross Origin Headers that weren't set on the MAL's UserInfo XML file, made it quite difficult to retrieve this data and to work with it. With a very useful script of his own, which pretty much made a proxy with the proper headers set made it possible to retrieve the XML data and so convert it to JSON. After that he also assisted me with another script he made to scrape off the user Favorites Data to create the Top X Anime Series from each user. So again a big shoutout for the great assistance to FoxInFlame! All in all it sure was a very learnful experience, especially to the point of the whole Cross Origin thing, to then convert the XML to an easier to use JSON type, and then rewriting code to make the favorites scraping from each user possible! I probably would've handled various thing differently now that I've got a complete oversight of everything, but again as it started out as very simple and personal tryout with those JS libraries I didn't think it would get this far into development that I could post about it here! Either way for those who read these blogs, and do have a quick look on the application, I'm more than welcome for opinions and feedback that you can provide me!

Bleach: Part I-Where Did It Go Wrong?

***We interrupt our regularly-scheduled broadcast for the following announcement*** I don't know that anyone is watching this blog, but if you are, thank you. Your interest in the ravings of an insane man such as myself help mangaka everywhere to aspire into greatness. If, however, you took a wrong turn: I'm sorry, there is no exit. That said, let's dive into the meat of this little blog entry. Imagine, if you will, a story about a boy who can see spirits. Now, imagine if that story not only possessed its own style that set it apart from similar stories with similar themes and such, but also came about as one man's aspiration to do what he enjoyed: write a story. Bleach debuted in 2001 as a manga, and 2003 as an anime series. General reception was quite high, and despite a previous work never concluding, Tite Kubo seemed on top of the world. WSJ wanted what he was selling, and what he was selling was pretty damn impressive. For the next 10 years, Bleach was to be one of the Big 3 Frontrunners for WSJ, alongside One Piece and Naruto. Unfortunately, the laws of physics apply to all things. Now, many people have covered what happened, where it went wrong, etc. I want to cover it from a fan perspective, as someone who not just kept up with each chapter religiously, but whom truly enjoyed it from start to finish (even if everything was rushed at the end). You see, as interest began to wane in Bleach, so did Kubo's health start to seriously deteriorate. If you wanted to make a correlation between personal health and Bleach's popularity, one should look no further than the mangaka himself. Kubo's health had, since as early as 2011, been deteriorating. Long hours, deadlines, and constant confrontations with the editors/publishers were taking their toll on Kubo. Now, I anticipate your "so what?" and will counter it with "so, it's not right.". Kubo is only one of a few persons who struggle in the anime/manga industry. The real tragedy is that Bleach went from an aesthetically-impressive series to a generic-looking manga series that the mangaka clearly lost interest in after a while. This is no more present than during the Invasion Arc, where the personalities of the Espada were essentially interchangeable with their Shinigami counterparts. Hell, I dare anyone reading this to go back and watch Ichigo vs Byakuya and Ichigo vs Ulquiorra side-by-side and tell me that every encounter of the latter wasn't just a rehash of the former with some smaller, less-noticeable parts changed. You really couldn't make out the differences except in character design. So, what about Aizen? The lead-in to their final encounter more/less comes about in a similar fashion to how things happened before, albeit all the captains now being victims of consequence rather than actively defying the rule of law for their own principles. Ichigo, too, doesn't necessarily "defeat" Aizen so much as he temporarily slows him down. This temporary inconvenience is the opportunity Urahara's deus ex machina needs to activate and resolve things rather unsatisfactorily. Aizen isn't defeated in any meaningful way and while Ichigo has to let go eventually, his introspective analysis of Aizen and the events that resulted from his actions seems shallow at best. It's clear that there was a more meaningful and deeper intent with the second act of Bleach, but something stopped Kubo from fully realizing it. This isn't an uncommon thing, though. Similarly to the rumored "true ending" of the Matrix trilogy, many stories in various media oft come away feeling shallow and wholly incomplete. Perhaps the stress of the job or time constraints prevented Kubo from realizing the resolution to his story in a satisfactory manner. Or maybe, similar to how many of his peers feel and felt, the industry had demanded so much of them that the narrative focus they put forward is lost in the rush to acquire a higher spot in the polls and maintain the interest of the readers. It wouldn't be a stretch to say WSJ's demands for Kubo had drained him of any desire to see the series to its true resolution, even at the cost of having his series further ridiculed and scrutinized simply because he wanted to keep drawing and writing. You might say the Fullbringer Arc and 1,000 Year War Arc were planned, and you would be correct. The thing is, they weren't planned and produced the way Kubo wanted to do them. What we received as readers was a bastardized version of a story that was fully planned, constructed, and only needed a major publisher to print it. The problem was, nobody wanted to give Kubo a chance before Toriyama got involved. After that, it's clear as time goes on that the editors and publishers of WSJ had a clear disdain for this young, talented individual who had an amazing vision and the ability to pull it off, but none of the professional support necessary to see it realized before. You could argue that they might have made unreasonable demands and intentionally sabotaged Kubo's work as a form of revenge. But, why? Because Bleach was, in its entirety, something new and something familiar. it embodied parts of the past in its themes and narrative elements (Shaman King and Yu Yu Hakusho come to mind) while embracing the more current (at the time) story styles and characters (Naruto and One Piece, with shreds of D.Gray-Man and Gintama). It was a creative mish-mash of all the different things in the industry in the past 20 years, constructed in a cohesive and charming story. Kubo's biggest issue wasn't that he himself was creatively-bankrupt; but, that he was too creatively-invested in his work. The shift in art style and narrative reflects the psychology of a man who has lost his innocence and now views the world with a dangerous amount of cynicism. Around the Invasion Arc, it's clear that Nihilism isn't just a concept made manifest; but that it's a prevalent part of Kubo's personal life. Ichigo's struggle against Byakuya was about overcoming the system and being accepted as he was, instead of what was expected. In the same way, Kubo's writing reflected a man who didn't just want to be another cog, but a true innovator with a great vision. But, we'll talk about that more in the next part!
