Cardcaptor Sakura and Your Lie in April - Entry 683

Just finished Cardcaptor Sakura. When I started watching I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it would just be a simple episodic anime, the way Ranma 1/2 is. Sakura catches a card and solves a problem. It turned out to be much more. There was an over all story arc that built towards the final episode. Also the characters changed and developed. It got better as the series progressed. It really is a good anime and I found myself enjoying it. I try to watch an old classic anime along with the current shows. Cardcaptor Sakura was the latest old one that I finished. The 70 episode length sort of intimidated me at first. But I watched a few shows when I had the time and eventually it was completed. Now I need to make a decision about Fairy Tail. I started watching this one before Cardcaptor Sakura. I have been stuck at 69 episodes out of 175 for months. I don't know if I will keep watching. I should make a decision to drop or watch. There are other anime on my PTW list that I want to see so I need to start watching those as well. I only have two Korean shows that I am watching one of them, Sketchbook, is out but without the subs. That is my Friday night show but I will have to wait for the subs to be fixed. There is a disclaimer about the subs so it is known that the subs are missing. I don't know where the problem is, either KBS World or YouTube. More time for anime watching if the subs aren't available. Last week I finished Your Lie in April. I thought about blogging about this show earlier but never got around to writing. So I will say something now. It is an excellent show. I watched the first episode and watched a total of ten before I stopped. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I had to stop for sleep, but over three days I completed the anime. It is beautiful and moving.
I gave it a 10 only because I couldn't give it a 9.5. I would have liked a better score. The music wasn't as dramatic and moving as it could have been. The anime features musicians and performances. This music was good, it is the incidental music that was lacking. Overall a wonderful show. Thanks again to Brand.

Inside Out Review

Pixar has finally returned to goodness, after the much disappointing Brave and Monsters University (let's just forget Cars 2 even existed). That said, 'goodness' is not 'greatness' at this point of time, not yet. The concept is simple. Emotions personified as cute cartoons. Nothing you've never seen in animations. What makes Inside Out's concept great however is what it does with the concept. There's a more depressing and cynical tale here than the trailer might deceive you. Adolescence isn't fun. It's troubling, emotional, and sometimes even dangerous. Pixar's masterful talent of bringing the human element to inanimate objects gives the movie its charm as we remember the good times we had, and how it all went wrong when the bad times came around. It's a depressing look for those of us who have long lost our innocence, because it reminds us how we were once all happy and joyous. That said, don't expect a mind-blowing or tearjerking conclusion. Toy Story 3 this isn't. While the final act had so much potential for greatness as it teased us with a complex tale of girl maturing to woman, it turned into a predictable and family-friendly ending that's true to its Disney branding. I think Pixar will always have a hard time treading into more mature stories with Disney being attached to the company, which is unfortunate, because the ending in "Up" remained bittersweet and mature without dumbing it down for the kids. Ultimately, the ending is its biggest flaw, and while the rest of the movie is mostly intelligent, it does have the kind of superficial humor you'd find in Dreamworks animated movies that distracts from its exploration of adolescence. It's like Pixar has a story to tell, but the Disney marketing guys kept on pestering Pete Doctor to make it more cartoonish and 'accessible'. Of course Riley is afraid of clowns, and of course she daydreams about dim-witted guys. That's not a spoiler, that's a lazy story-pitch. The film also couldn't decide between which character it wants to shine the spotlight on as a relatable protagonist. Unlike Toy Story, we actually get a deeper look into the lives of the real humans in Inside Out. They're no longer just background characters. This presents a new problem: are we supposed to care more about the 'Emotion' characters (Joy, Anger, Disgust, etc.) or the human characters? The film couldn't decide which set of characters it should flesh out more, leaving the story feeling more like a prologue than a full story. I don't feel as emotionally-connected to any of the characters as I did towards the toys in Toy Story or even the fishes in Finding Nemo. I disagree with that one review that says that "Pixar fanatics will eat it up". I didn't. I recognize that it's still quite a weak story compared to Pixar's better works before Cars came around. I don't think Pixar's ran out of steam yet though, because like I said, the movie still retains traits of an adult looking at a child's life with bittersweetness. It's still mature and intelligent, even if it's held back by a mediocre execution. If done right, this could have been Stanley Kubrick's "Artificial Intelligence" of Pixar, showing just how messed up a child's emotions could become. I look forward to the day when Pixar once again impacts me on a similar emotional level as both Kubrick and Toy Story 2 once did. 3.5/5: A good step in the right direction and a return to heartfelt emotional stories for Pixar.

Did a reread of the (latest fully translated) volume (Three) for Rokka no Yuusha - I think it’s safe to say that this volume focuses on husbando Goldof Aurora. I love it through and through - saying the plot has thickened would be the understatement of the year.
The more I read about Goldof’s past - the more I think about Heiwajima Shizuo. Still waiting for Nano Desu-senpai to finish Volumes 4, 5 and 6.

Like every other person, I love novels or well, anything to read - the thicker they are, the better.
This one is called Mushoku Tensei; I recently discovered it (probably TOO late) but it’s a light-novel series, like Rokka No Yuusha and has 24 volumes - what’s more is that ALL volumes have been completely translated by Kaezar Translations - and you can download all 24 volumes here. The synopsis alone got me: A 34-year-old NEET otaku, chased out from his house by his family, found that his life is reaching a dead end. He then recalled that his life could actually have been much better if he had made better choices in the past. Me thinks I’m going to love it.

Is Charlotte similar to Angel Beats

Let us face the facts here, we all know that Charlotte is being made by Key, which is also the producer of Angel beats and to be honest, they both have some minor similarities. But I see many people who haven't seen a single episode of charlotte yelling that it is Angel Beats 2.0. Please bear in mind that IT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. Charlotte has its own unique storyline and does not copy or follow angel beats in any way. Please stop all this nonsense about Charlotte being similar to Angel Beats and for the love of god, just enjoy the anime normally.

First er, I tried to do youtube art-sorta-covers. The main point for drawing em was because it suits if it sits on top of the YT box X) Plus again practising to experiment creativity and how and what/which things would suit/look nice, while altogether trying to see how well the gfx I make can sit along with the YT. This is the ones I've done so far -blog recorded Just not doing it rn bc I don't have time anymore aishh. These are the other yt.songs I planned on doing too
Hmm.. I dun wanna do this half-assedly but to make it easier, I wont do much prntscr to show ya stuff.. copy&pasting the codes is like more easier keheh. Later I also gots some ideas bc I saw how this person used a manga-cut as their sig. So I had another thing I could practice on -kinda idea Just basically wanted to try replication drawings, nevur rlly hold it as my own either but I like to practice like this anyways x~x

Ofc theres another club but by its 600th I made the card the normal way so yeap, prolly wont invest my time in drawing cards like this (not even sure if the above is a card, sorta is .~.) I'm like a normal cardmaker now:3 'cept I only rlly make cards in this one club mainly. And thats how I'll prolly make do (unless I found more creativity lul) I plan on drawing some more proper stuff like the ones ya see in deviantart/zerochan sorta like, but I need to find the style I'll draw in. I don't wanna just imitate so yeap. I only do so rn bc I'm just a beginner so gotta test stuffles out ~_~ I don't have time to do any more gfx or practice much bc school is coming. With school I do traditional art heheh V~V
