There aren't too many good horror genre animes. Probably it's better to read horror manga instead. I mean just look at Tokyo Ghoul for example. Although I enjoyed most of the series, the studio messed up the latter half, aka the 2nd season.
The horror anime that stood out the most for me is Hellsing Ultimate. The deaths in this anime feel quite satisfying and looks cool rather than feeling downright disgusting. The art and animation are very well done. Also, Alucard is one of the most badass characters ever. The only downside is that there isn't a strong plot so it looks like a bunch of random people beating up each other. At least the battles are of epic proportions.
