こんにちわみんなさん
The first episode of Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation aired today. This is the first anime that I have been legitimately excited to see. I was still a little apprehensive though. With it being an original story I was unsure about how they would handle it. That, and the art style doesn't fit that out of the games.
I was planning on waiting for the subbed episode to come out before watching it but I couldn't take it anymore. So I downloaded the raw episode and put my Japanese skills to the test. It's good to know that I understood at least half of everything (confirmed after watching the subbed). The anime felt like the games. I was worried about their handling of everything but I can safely say this is Hyperdimension Neptunia all right. The characters, the jokes, the fanservice... everything feels like it's supposed to be which put my biggest fear at ease. I was worried about the anime suffering an identity crisis. They reference the games quite a few times which helps keep things familiar to those who have played the games. Even if you haven't, it's no big deal.
So far everything seems good. As I mentioned before, it definetely feels like the games. The story gets started right away, the fanservice is right on time :P , the characters interact with each other just as they do in the games, and I guess after a while, I could get used to the art style. If you're a fan of the games, definetely watch it. If you're not, and you're looking for a good laugh mixed with some action, check it out. Knowledge of the video game industry may or may not be helpful; it's too soon to know if they'll make jokes based off the game industry or not.
