It's ok to be colorful....

Finished 2010's Colorful film a couple of days ago, and it was a real treat. It reminded me of the nice life lessons I learned watching End of Evangelion, but without all the convoluted symbolism and action. Colorful had a must softer hand when it came to leading you to learn that everything will be ok. Just have to stop being afraid of pain and rejection. In order to survive yourself, not just life, you must keep on and find what makes you happy. Be true to yourself. Granted the story was darker than your typical slice of life movie, but I'm pretty sure the series was not intended as a family film. It's a coming of age story for kids in middle or high school. Hell, I'm sure a lot of college students can relate as well. I know I can. I would certainly watch it again, even if the pace isn't very fast. Certainly not a waste of two hrs of my time though. Nice animation, heartfelt juxtaposing music, beautiful art, relatable characters and the supernatural elements did not distract from the realism of the plot. If you haven't seen it of missed it back in 2010, do yourself a favor and check it out. Of course if you don't really like slow paced, dramatic, depressing, deep character studies then maybe this anime movie is not for you. Nevertheless, very good. On to the next series: So Ra No Wo To (Sound of the Sky).
