“Heavy Object” is yet another light novel adaptation, this time of a pseudo-sci-fi story of future super war machines and the young soldiers who try to come up with ways to defeat those machines. The only surprise is that the Super War Machines are not mecha for a change.
But, before the audience gets to find out that little tidbit of difference from a thousand other mecha anime, the audience has to sit through a seemingly endless spiel of technobabble and a number of very uninspired CG battles. Finally, just when the audience begins to think that they have all died and gone to hell, the story starts with some sad sacks shovelling snow and sneezing. But never fear fanservice fans, the commander is an overdeveloped babe and the (not) mechas are commanded by teenaged girls.
What a piece of crap! I ended up skipping through a fair amount of this because every scene and each line of dialog irritated me to no end. My final rating is D and I if I actually forced myself to sit through the entire thing I probably would have given it an F.
