Dropping an Anime Series

I notice that no matter what, I can't bring myself to drop an anime. I've heard and read of hundreds of bad reviews and people dropping a specific anime because it didn't appeal to them or they just downright hated it. Then I turn to myself and ask "why don't I do that? What makes me say 'No, I'll keep watching.'?" I'll try and lay that out here. There are tons of cliches in specific genres of anime. For example, harem/ecchi/rocom (or a combination of several) will most certainly have a pool or beach episode. a lovely picture of Hatoko Kushikawa in your average swimming/beach episode The thing is that with me, I don't care if a trope or cliche is shown hundreds or thousands of times. I think what's really important is the situation in that particular anime. What are they doing in that episode? Why are they there? The point is that the story and the way it is told is more important than the trope. Don't get me wrong. There are some things that I may not like in an anime series. If the main character of a harem or ro-com is too spineless or dense, that will somewhat frustrate me. But notice that 'somewhat.' I guess it's just who I am but no matter how stupid the MC might be or how ridiculous the humor is, I have an urge to find out what happens in the end. It's almost like a torture chamber for some of you, but it doesn't hurt for me. So bottom line, I suppose, is that I haven't dropped an anime series because I like to see things through to the end. I need to find out what happens in the end, so I naturally have a high tolerance for what goes on in the show. The closest situation I've been in to dropping an anime series is when I put it on hold while I watch one with more priority!
