Sigh... I probably should've written down all the things I knew about this anime before I watched the first episode but I was too excited to remember...
Basically, I don't know. In my head, I kind of feel like it's a classic anime. It would get the ")(" symbol automatically, because I feel like I see it everywhere (Oh, I'm making that list up as I go btw I don't agree with what most anime lists people consider classics... I don't consider Hellsing or Perfect Blue a classic at all.) I basically have only heard of this anime through word of mouth. Man, I'm gonna sound old now.
Utena... Utena is an all-time classic. It honestly doesn't even matter how much or how little anime you've watched. You've never truly watched anime until you watched Utena. It's... that necessary of a watch. But Cowboy Bebop is also considered a classic, right?
In my opinion, even before watching the first episode, I would say that Fushigi Yuugi kind of is in between there, if we had to rank the classic anime out of importance idk

Fushigi Yuugi is an anime I've only heard of from old AMVs... back when YouTube didn't have the thumbs up thumbs down rating, and had the stars. Like that old... Oh, and AMV Hell 3. Of course, of course.
I don't know. I think it's a classic. It seems pretty good so far. It reminds me a lot of Inuyasha, and it makes me even happier to see it's the very first recommendation you see on MAL, which means it's the most popular aha I'm not the only one...
Oh yeah, speaking of classics, because I'm pretty sure I forgot to write about this for Utena. Utena is the only shoujo anime on there... It kind of looks strange... Everything else is just... not shoujo. But then again Utena is at a different level than other anime, so
It might not be the only anime on there for long though, because Rose of Versailles might be another anime I deem classic... Maybe not. Well. Whatever.
Fushigi Yuugi already just from episode one seems really good. Really promising. I feel like this is going to be really good.
